(Three first time volunteers who became politically active following last November’s US Presidential elections, look for addresses while canvassing on a Saturday morning in a quiet residential neighborhood in Palmdale, California, going door to door trying to register voters)

Action #4 – Help PROJECT LIFELINE.
Since the US government is either unable or unwilling to provide for basic needs of immigrant detainees – sufficient water, food, hygiene products, blankets and warm clothes, humanitarian relief organization, PROJECT LIFELINE, is declaring the crisis and taking first action to help where our government has fallen short. They are planning two caravans, one leaving from Houston and another from San Antonio and need to collect enough supplies to fill an 18-wheeler (semi) truck and 20-30 cars / trucks. We can contribute to their Amazon wishlist link then share with our friends on social media.
Just like the calls we ask everyone to make to their legislators, showing up at our local city council meetings gives our local leaders the strength to do the right thing.
The fight to stop cities from joining in on an anti-SB-54 lawsuit, Camarillo Edition.
(From Indivisible Conejo) “Some great news to start (or finish) your day! The Camarillo City Council has voted 5-0 to take a neutral stance on SB 54, the California Values Act. The vote followed more than three hours of public comment. Thank you so much to the activists of Camarillo, the Conejo Valley and elsewhere — including a number of hearty souls from Indivisible: Conejo. Thousand Oaks, take note — this is how a good-hearted group of activists and a brave council repel the anti-immigrant horde!” Continue reading “Thurs 5/24: The “Blue Wave” starts at home.”
Best quote: “We sent Dennis Rodman. I can’t believe that didn’t work.”
(Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said of the retired American basketball player who has taken several trips to North Korea.)
For the most accurate analysis of what’s happening between Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, we once again turn to our nation’s comedians.

We have until August 24th to speak for our National Monuments…

This week in our daily actions blog, we posted a letter from Sierra Club’s Jim Hines regarding the Trump administration’s response to the overwhelming number of comments to protect Bears Ears and other western national monuments. (Here’s the number as of today. It keeps growing as comments are tabulated.) Continue reading “This Week in Resistance – “Welcome to your Heritage. Bring a Mask!””

Yes, we can take a well-earned minute to glory in the GOP’s healthcare debacle in the Senate Thursday night. But not for long, as it was a very close vote. 49 senators voted against all decency and humanity to risk destroying our healthcare system, people’s lives and a major part of our economy.
Our President has vowed to destroy any bits of Obamacare that survived this vote, while his minions work tirelessly to dismantle every aspect of our government and sell off its parts to the highest or most well-connected bidders.
But that’s business as usual…at least, for one of his businesses.
In addition to learning a sprightly new phrase from Georgia Congressman Buddy Carter, who spent, good god, a whole 27.5 hours working on this healthcare thing, let’s talk about what happened this week…

There are some dark forces at work here. So let’s review our strongest weapon, one that we can wield every day like a short rectangular wand…
Yes, it is your humble, yet amazing phone!
– How do I know who to phone or what to say?
– Calling people I don’t know gives me hives. Really!
– Why do I need to call? All my representatives are Democrats.
– I have a life, you know. I don’t have time to make these calls every day …
Yesterday, we posted the Friday 10-minute Resistance Diet. It consisted of 3 issues for our senators and 2 for our representative, plus 2 written regulatory comments. If one keeps the written comments short and pithy, it can be done in LESS than 10 minutes. I used the spare time to call a few more of Feinstein’s offices.
– Why do I need to do this? Aren’t there enough of you people doing this already?
What the GOP is doing can cost you thousands of dollars, a bankruptcy, or even your health, your life or the life of someone you care about. Pretty big stakes. Yeah, we’re crazy committed, but we can’t personally make the thousands of calls a day that are necessary to make the GOP nervous. Please jump in. It gets faster and easier. It makes you powerful.
– Here’s the latest comparison between the ACA and the GOP plan.
– Here’s how Trump can make us miserable even if the GOP can’t get the votes they need.
– Calling is way easier than doing this.
– Does all this calling really have any effect?
Yes. Click here. Continue reading “This Week in Resistance – “Collusion isn’t Illegal!” Edition”
