Time to pay attention to state bills!

Legislation is rushing through both CA chambers’ for their floor votes, and as usual, some great bills are being crushed and some turds are floating to the top. Time to amplify the voices of our allies! We’ve made the calls as short as possible and yes, you can combine them.

Don’t hand your reproductive privacy to authoritarians without a fight!

The internet is tracking your period apps, your search history and your location. Companies are already selling that information to cops and extremists.

Heads up, people! We are LOSING the numbers game on comments!!!

Action #1: Make a comment now!

If you did it yesterday, do it again. Comments supporting the gag rule are outnumbering us at what looks like 25:1. Most are form letters.

And remember that this is not just a women’s battle.

The majority of people, INCLUDING MEN, who’ve benefited by women having full access to reproductive care, support access to abortion. Ask the men in your life to write too. Commenting is really easy to do. It takes 5 minutes. After you make a comment, make another. Make a dozen. Call/email/facebook/instagram or smoke signal your friends and have them start making comments.

Heads up, people! We are LOSING the numbers game on comments!!!

Title X is the only federal domestic program focused solely on providing people with family planning services – to women with and without insurance. Most patients are uninsured or ineligible for Medicaid. You can read more about it here.

The Trump administration has proposed a “gag rule,” that not only would prohibit providers from even discussing abortion as a health care option for women, but would impose onerous and expensive requirements – like having a physical and financial separation between Title X programs and abortion services. (By way of reminder, abortion services are never paid for with federal or government dollars.)

A new fictional website that describes what we face in the future, brilliantly branded as the Department of Reproductive Control – lays out the Trump administration’s vision of the future that awaits us, our daughters and granddaughters. As they say “Everything on this site is true, except the name of the site itself”.

Read it and SHARE, SHARE, SHARE! Then, sit down and write out some comments because…

MOST of them are form-letters IN FAVOR OF THE GAG RULE!!!

Our opposition is well-organized and well-funded. However, there are far more of us who believe in our rights to full healthcare, so write!

Tues 7/10: Join with Planned Parenthood this evening to protect Title X. Bring men.

Gather up the teenagers in your house and introduce them to activism on an issue that will have a real effect on their lives.

And don’t just take the girls…

Fri 4/27 – Update on the “Abstinence-only” fight!

Update!

We’re not taking this lying down! (insert inappropriate emoji of your choice here!).

Lawsuits are flying fast and furious over the GOP administration’s machinations to halt 81 effective comprehensive sex-ed programs two years early in order to replace them with their abstinence-base experiments.

And it’s not just appalled adults fighting this nightmare. Amazing students are also speaking out against the arbitrary restriction on the information they need. Advocates for Youth, a sex-ed nonprofit, hosted the day-long event called #SexEdLive. “Like” them, follow them, and listen to this great, straightforward discussion.

Thank Ventura-based Patagonia for supporting Planned Parenthood – Brieitbart is slamming them!

Patagonia is being slammed by Breitbart and other right-wing media outlets for its strong defense of our national parks and monuments and for its donations to Planned Parenthood. As a result, the company has been receiving tons of negative phone calls, which has been demoralizing to the staff. A little love from the public would be very much appreciated.

Now is the time to ensure California women & their families have family planning services they need. (SB743)

SB 743 allows the Medi-Cal (California’s version of Medicaid) to cover family planning services, such as Planned Parenthood. California has implemented this freedom of choice provision for decades, but it is not codified in California law. Given recent events in Washington, now is the time to ensure California women and their families have the family planning services they need.
