If we don’t stand up against a corrupt ruler who would use both a democracy struggling for its existence against Russia and a Communist super-power to ensure his own reelection, who will?

If we don’t stand up for the rights of whistleblowers to safely call out abuses of those in power, who will?

Close the Camps Protest at Rep. Brownley’s Office – On July 2nd!

When: July 2nd, 11:45am – 12:45pm
Where: Rep. Brownley’s office, 223 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
RSVP: (and share!) https://www.facebook.com/events/2657967964429858/
Bring: Please bring a sign, your flag, and your most passionate voice!

Trump’s family-separation/detention-center regime is a humanitarian crisis — and Rep. Julia Brownley last week helped scuttle a House bill that would have put restrictions on Trump’s racist excesses. (She voted the same as Nunes and McClintock!)

Please join this protest, part of a nationwide day of action, hosted by Indivisible Conejo, demanding that Brownley stop caving in to Republicans and support legislation that places limits on Trump’s ability to cage children — and urging her to visit a detention center in the coming weeks.

We’ll be protesting outside from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m., and a small contingent of activists will meet with Rep. Brownley from 12-12:30 p.m.

Please note that Lights For Liberty protests are still scheduled for Friday, July 12, at detention centers and on street corners nationwide.

By participating in this event, you agree to follow all applicable laws and to behave lawfully to ensure the safety of event participants. This event will be nonviolent and will not involve any civil disobedience or other violation of law. In the rare occurrence of counter-protesters, you further agree to not engage and use the “isolate and ignore” model.

Saturday’s Families Belong Together Rally – “Where else would I be?”

After thanking them for attending our rally Saturday evening, people gave the same answer…”Where else would I be?

We had people for whom walking and standing was a difficult business. But still they came, to stand on the unforgivingly hard sidewalk. “Where else would I be?

We had people who were protesters back when Vietnam was the issue, and people who came out for the first time. “Where else would I be?

Every generation has its defining issue, where people of conscience speak out for those who can’t. Our president has left no part of our democracy unscathed, but it will be the deliberate weaponization of family destruction, with the welfare of children casually dismissed as collateral damage, that will forever mark this administration’s reign.

And for that, we will resist. Where else would we be?

(One participant shared these great photos with us. If you others you’d like to share, please send to indivisibleventura@gmail.com)

Did Mike Pompeo Think He Could Visit Ventura County and Not Get Protested?

pompeo9

On Sunday afternoon, Mike Pompeo delivered a speech at the Reagan Library and many of us from Indivisible Ventura joined in with our sister group and protest organizer, Indivisible Simi Valley, to “welcome” him to Simi Valley!

pompeo8

Driving in, we saw banners strewn across overpasses!

pompeobridge

Outside of the Reagan Library, protest songs blared as we “greeted” Mr. Pompeo and his guests with signs and dancing as they arrived to hear his speech on Iran.

A beautiful day to be with friends, neighbors, and those who love our country – and a huge shoutout to those who supported us with honks and cheers in passing cars (even those leaving the Library after Continue reading “Did Mike Pompeo Think He Could Visit Ventura County and Not Get Protested?”

SORRY, EVERYONE. DUE TO THE PREDICTED TERRIBLE AIR QUALITY AND HIGH WINDS, WE’RE CANCELLING THIS RALLY. WE WILL HOPEFULLY RE-SCHEDULE BEFORE THE FCC VOTES.

IN THE MEANTIME, DO THIS

Join us as we protest outside the Verizon store against the rollback of net neutrality protections! Bring your signs, your voice, a friend, and your enthusiasm!

When: Thursday, December 7, 12-2pm
Where: Outside Verizon Store, corner of Main Street and Mills Road. We’ll be meeting on the sidewalk outside the Lowe’s Shopping Center, right across from the Pacific View Mall. 488 S Mills Rd, Ventura

Join this nationwide effort with other Internet users outraged by top Verizon lawyer-turned-FCC-Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality, one week before an expected vote at the FCC.

We will make it clear to members of Congress that the time is now to stand for net neutrality, not Verizon’s bottom line.

PLEASE remember, this event is about protesting actions of Verizon executives, lobbyists and their supporters in Washington, NOT the employees at these stores.

Note that this is strictly a peaceful protest Continue reading “CANCELLED DUE TO THE FIRES! Rally to Protect Net Neutrality!”
