Trump’s family-separation/detention-center regime is a humanitarian crisis — and Rep. Julia Brownley last week helped scuttle a House bill that would have put restrictions on Trump’s racist excesses. (She voted the same as Nunes and McClintock!)
Please join this protest, part of a nationwide day of action, hosted by Indivisible Conejo, demanding that Brownley stop caving in to Republicans and support legislation that places limits on Trump’s ability to cage children — and urging her to visit a detention center in the coming weeks.
We’ll be protesting outside from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m., and a small contingent of activists will meet with Rep. Brownley from 12-12:30 p.m.
Please note that Lights For Liberty protests are still scheduled for Friday, July 12, at detention centers and on street corners nationwide.
By participating in this event, you agree to follow all applicable laws and to behave lawfully to ensure the safety of event participants. This event will be nonviolent and will not involve any civil disobedience or other violation of law. On Sunday afternoon, Mike Pompeo delivered a speech at the Reagan Library and many of us from Indivisible Ventura joined in with our sister group and protest organizer, Indivisible Simi Valley, to “welcome” him to Simi Valley!
Driving in, we saw banners strewn across overpasses!
Outside of the Reagan Library, protest songs blared as we “greeted” Mr. Pompeo and his guests with signs and dancing as they arrived to hear his speech on Iran.
A beautiful day to be with friends, neighbors, and those who love our country – and a huge shoutout to those who supported us with honks and cheers in passing cars (even those leaving the Library after Continue reading “Did Mike Pompeo Think He Could Visit Ventura County and Not Get Protested?”

This weekend, we celebrate both Easter and Passover, events that celebrate the advent of spring with rituals of renewal and hope. For those of us who now call ourselves the resistance, it’s a time to reflect on the kindness, strength and comradery of those we’ve met on this journey. These are the people who, despite setbacks, failures and disappointments, continue to show up, continue to call out, continue to fight, until our country itself undergoes a renewal.
To sin by silence, when we should protest,
Makes cowards out of men. The human race
Has climbed on protest. Had no voice been raised
Against injustice, ignorance, and lust,
The inquisition yet would serve the law,
And guillotines decide our least disputes.
The few who dare, must speak and speak again
To right the wrongs of many. Speech, thank God,
No vested power in this great day and land
Can gag or throttle. Press and voice may cry
Loud disapproval of existing ills;
May criticise oppression and condemn
The lawlessness of wealth-protecting laws
That let the children and childbearers toil
To purchase ease for idle millionaires. Continue reading “Inspiration for Resisters”

Dear Mr. Trump,
We know it’s been a while since you visited California. Is it because we’re the reason you lost the popular vote?
Or the fact that the world looks to us as the leader on climate change?
Are you intimidated by our Governor who speaks Latin better than you speak, period?
Well, regardless of why you stayed away your first year in office, you’re coming here today.
And since it’s your first trip in a couple of years, we thought you might appreciate some tips on how to have a productive and successful visit. Following these simple, easy-to-understand rules will help you navigate your way around a state that proudly lives in the 21st Century:

Join this nationwide effort with other Internet users outraged by top Verizon lawyer-turned-FCC-Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality, one week before an expected vote at the FCC.
We will make it clear to members of Congress that the time is now to stand for net neutrality, not Verizon’s bottom line.
PLEASE remember, this event is about protesting actions of Verizon executives, lobbyists and their supporters in Washington, NOT the employees at these stores.
Note that this is strictly a peaceful protest Continue reading “CANCELLED DUE TO THE FIRES! Rally to Protect Net Neutrality!”

The #TrumpTaxScam is a DISASTER-of-a-giveaway-to-fat-cat-Republican-donors (surprise, surprise). It adds $1.5 trillion to the deficit — which will force deep cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security down the road — all to give huge tax cuts to the wealthy, corporations — and to Donald Trump himself.
We can, and must, kill this bill with constituent power. The tax fight and the healthcare fight are the SAME FIGHT. And, just like with healthcare, we can defeat it with nationwide constituent power. On our own home turf!
See you there!
Print out your mask – and affix it to a stick:
