No on HR 1215. You can’t place a federally imposed limit on the value of my life! (1 of 3 today)

For those with federally funded health care, HR 1215 caps medical malpractice payouts to $250,000, overruling any state laws that declare such caps unconstitutional. It punishes those insured by the ACA (or veterans insured through the VA) by placing a federally imposed limit on the value of their lives.

Call Congresswoman Julia Brownley: DC (202) 225-5811, Oxnard (805) 379-1779, T.O. (805) 379-1779

Script:  I’m calling from [zip] to ask Rep. Brownley to vote “NO” on HR 1215. ACA insurance doesn’t make me worth less than a privately insured person.

Republicans in Congress are scrambling, making last minute changes and compromises to Trumpcare. Their goal is to repeal the ACA on the 6th anniversary of its passage, March 23rd.

Vote No on SCRUB Act, yet another attempt to undermine the agencies that keep us safe!

SCRUB gives an unelected commission the power to gut environment, health, and workplace safety regulations.

For Senators Feinstein and Harris: (DC switchboard (202) 224-3121, other #’s below.)

Script: Hi, my name is _______and my zip code is _____I’m calling to ask Senator ____ to oppose HR 998, the SCRUB Act. The bill would create an unelected commission with sweeping powers to strip our agencies of their ability to protect public health and safety and it would open the door to meddling by big business. I worry that this bill is one more effort by President Trump and the GOP Congress to dismantle vital protections for our workforce, our environment, and our health.

The SCRUB Act (Searching for and Cutting Regulations that are Unnecessarily Burdensome), H.R. 998 limits the ability of agencies to do their job and opens the door to meddling by big business. It gives an unelected commission the power to get rid of environment, health, and workplace safety regulations.

Urge No on Disastrous Trumpcare Bill – Call our Senators!

The Congressional Budget Office says that by 2026, Trumpcare will cause 24 million people to lose their health insurance.

For Senators Feinstein and Harris: (DC switchboard (202) 224-3121, other #’s below.)

Script: Hi, I am calling to ask Senator ____ to vote against Trumpcare. I am alarmed at what it will take away from average Americans like myself, in terms of healthcare, and what it will give to wealthy Americans in terms of tax cuts. I have done my homework and read the non-partisan reports issued by both the CBO and the Joint Committee on Taxation. The repeal will take away health coverage from millions and will be especially detrimental to the elderly, and the poorest of Americans.

Highlights of the CBO report on Trumpcare include 1) 14 million people losing coverage by 2018, 2) 24 million people losing coverage by 2026, 3) A 64 year old making $26,500 a year being asked to pay $12,000 for health insurance. Trumpcare includes $592 billion in tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Trumpcare is not health care, it is wealth care.

Feinstein Contacts: DC (202) 224-3841, LA (310) 914-7300, SF (415) 393-0707, SD (619) 231-9712, Fresno (559) 485-7430

Oppose ANY health care bill that defunds Planned Parenthood!

IMG_0426

Paul Ryan’s ACA replacement bill will defund planned parenthood, cutting off critical health care services for millions of low income women and men.   https://tinyurl.com/hh4m2kt

Call Representative Brownley and ask her to oppose ANY health care bill that defunds Planned Parenthood.

The proposed GOP health care bill is a triple strike against families and reproductive rights for women.  It defunds Planned Parenthood, which provides critical health care services (including mammograms and contraceptives) to women.  Women would not be able to use tax credits to purchase insurance that includes abortion coverage.  And the bill would not provide health insurance to cover maternity costs.  This is a bill families cannot afford.

If this dangerous bill becomes law, as many as 2.5 million people will be cut off from essential health care services.

Script: Hi! I am calling from [zip code] to ask Congressman Brownley to oppose ANY health care bill that defunds Planned Parenthood. For a lot of women in this country, Planned Parenthood is the only doctor they have. Thank you.
