Urge NO on H.J. Res 36. We can’t afford to rollback regulations of greenhouse gasses (1 of 2 today)

Methane’s impact on climate change is 25 times greater than that of carbon dioxide.  The GOP wants to rescind an Obama-era regulation that cracks down on methane leaks, and that bans the burning off of excess methane during natural gas drilling.  H.J. Res 36 is bad for the environment and wasteful of our country’s natural gas resources.

Call Senators Feinstein and Harris!

Script: I’m calling from (ZIP) to ask Senator (Feinstein/Harris) to vote “NO” on H.J. Res 36. Fight for our right to clean air and environmentally sound management of greenhouse gases.

Vote “NO” on HR 1430. Protect our air and water! (2 of 2 today)

The new rules and regulations mandated by HR 1430 are not compatible with peer-reviewed science, and add red tape that compromises the ability of the EPA to protect our air and water. Republican lawmakers have no business telling scientists at the EPA how to do their jobs.

Call Congresswoman Julia Brownley: DC (202) 225-5811, Oxnard (805) 379-1779, T.O. (805) 379-1779

Script:  I’m calling from [zip] to ask Representative Brownley to vote “NO” on HR 1430. Let the EPA scientists do their jobs the right way.

Vote No on SCRUB Act, yet another attempt to undermine the agencies that keep us safe!

SCRUB gives an unelected commission the power to gut environment, health, and workplace safety regulations.

For Senators Feinstein and Harris: (DC switchboard (202) 224-3121, other #’s below.)

Script: Hi, my name is _______and my zip code is _____I’m calling to ask Senator ____ to oppose HR 998, the SCRUB Act. The bill would create an unelected commission with sweeping powers to strip our agencies of their ability to protect public health and safety and it would open the door to meddling by big business. I worry that this bill is one more effort by President Trump and the GOP Congress to dismantle vital protections for our workforce, our environment, and our health.

The SCRUB Act (Searching for and Cutting Regulations that are Unnecessarily Burdensome), H.R. 998 limits the ability of agencies to do their job and opens the door to meddling by big business. It gives an unelected commission the power to get rid of environment, health, and workplace safety regulations.

Save Our Clean Air & Water!

Call Hannah-Beth Jackson: “ Yes” on CA Environmental Defense Bills SB 49 and SB 50.

Scott Pruitt’s EPA threatens our clean air & water standards and endangered species protections. SB 49 holds California to the tougher, current federal standards. SB 50 protects California public lands from sales to private developers.

Script: I’m calling from [zip code] to state my support for SB 49 and SB 50. Californians are proud of the regulations that keep our state a prime destination for tourists and a healthy place for us to live and raise our families. We want our water and air clean and our public outdoor spaces available for us to enjoy now and in years to come.

Say No to Rick Perry for Energy Secretary – Talk to Our Senators!

Rick Perry is unqualified to guard our nuclear arsenal, and is unlikely to support renewable energy.

For Senators Feinstein and Harris: (DC switchboard (202) 224-3121, other #’s below.)

Script:  Hi my name is ____, I am a constituent of Sen. [______] and I am calling to urge you to vote “NO” on the confirmation of Rick Perry for Secretary of Energy. Gov. Perry has no scientific or professional background that qualifies him to serve in this role. His fundamental misunderstanding that the DOE is responsible for securing our nation’s nuclear arsenal makes him wholly unqualified for this role. Furthermore, he is on the record as a climate change skeptic, and he is unlikely to continue the DOE’s cultivation of safe, renewable energy sources. I hope you will demand a higher qualification for this important position than political loyalty to the President-Elect. Thank you.

No on Ryan Zinke for Interior Secretary: Call Senators Feinstein & Harris

Ryan Zinke refused to commit to a limited approach to allowing the excavation of coal and gas on federal lands and has opposed endangered species protections.

For Senators Feinstein and Harris – Call today and tomorrow (both): (DC switchboard (202) 224-3121, other #’s below.)

Script: Hi. My name is (______) and I’m a constituent from (city, zip.) I calling to urge Senator (Harris/Feinstein) to vote “NO’ on the confirmation of Ryan Zinke for Secretary of the Interior. We need principled leaders to stand up for regular Americans and protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the planet we share from polluters. Zinke refused in his nomination hearings to “…commit to a limited approach to allowing the excavation of coal, gas and minerals underground” on federal lands at the same time that Trump has said he intends to “to restore coal industry jobs by tapping federal resources. Zinke supports the Keystone XL Pipeline and has opposed endangered species protections for animals like the sage grouse.  Thank You.

Today’s Action Item: Protect Wolves and Bears! Vote NO H.J. Res. 69!

FOR SENATORS FEINSTEIN AND HARRIS: (DC switchboard (202) 224-3121, other #’s below.)

Say “NO ” to H.J. Res. 69 “Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the final rule of the Department of the Interior relating to “Non-subsistence Take of Wildlife, and Public Participation and Closure Procedures, on Nation Wildlife Refuges in Alaska”.

Script: “Hi, my name is (_______) and I’m a constituent from (City, Zip). I’m calling to ask Senator (____) vote “ NO” on H.J. Res. 69. This resolution will void the Alaska National Wildlife Refuges Rule, which will threaten the ecosystem by decimating native carnivore populations through cruel and extreme measures. This, in turn, will cause irreparable damage to our country’s wildlife heritage on public lands that belong to all of us. Protecting America’s wildlife and our wildlife refuges is important to all Americans. Thank you for your hard work.
