Whether your legislator is red or blue, FLOOD their lines today!

In addition to our regularly scheduled calls on media issues today, we’d like you to make two other calls, even if you’ve made them before.

#1 – DACA

Their time is running out.
The CR budget running out tomorrow night and Congress’ willingness to forge a bipartisan DACA bill. However, the president remains a moving target and now insists that he’d love a government shutdown if an immigration deal does not “get rid of these loopholes where killers are allowed to come into our country”.  Of course, actual research shows the opposite. Let’s tell our MoCs that we expect them to vote for and put forward a clean DACA bill.

Minimal Script: Hi. I’m calling from [zip code] to thank Rep./Sen [name] for supporting the Dream Act (H.R. 3440/S.1615), family unification, and to demand no funding for a wasteful wall or surplus border staffing.

Call Rep. Julia Brownley: (CA-26): DC (202) 225-5811, Oxnard (805) 379-1779, T.O. (805) 379-1779
or Rep. Salud Carbajal: (CA-24): DC (202) 225-3601, SB (805) 730-1710 SLO (805) 546-8348

AND Call Senator Feinstein: DC (202) 224-3841, LA (310) 914-7300, SF (415) 393-0707, SD (619) 231-9712, Fresno (559) 485-7430

and Senator Harris: DC (202) 224-3553, LA (213) 894-5000, SAC (916) 448-2787, Fresno (559) 497-5109, SF (415) 355-9041, SD (619) 239-3884

Thursday 1/11 – The FCC, Mueller and the Earth…

We’re cancelling our newsletter call on Net Neutrality.

All our legislators are on the job. Please thank them instead.

Both our Senators,  Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris are part of the 40 senators that signed Senator Markey’s Congressional Review Act resolution of disapproval to overturn FCC vote to end net neutrality. 30 members were required to send it to the floor for a vote. Thank them here. Feinstein email, Kamala Harris email.

Both our representatives, Salud Carbajal and Julia Brownley, have released statements that they will support legislative action to enforce net neutrality. Thank them here. Carbajal email, Brownley email.

Today is “Protect Mueller National Call-In Day”!

Let’s all take part and call our MoCs to ask them to do their part to protect him.  #ProtectMueller and #TrumpRussia

Environmental Actions

You can watch it below and/or read about all the acts here…, but while we were distracted with Trump’s supposed “War on Christmas”, an actual war on our environment was happening.

Casual Friday – Resist in your pajamas!

Cup of coffee ready?

1. Rinse and Repeat.

If you missed any of the actions from yesterday, including calls on DACA and another wildly inappropriate nominee and some quick consumer actions on Motel 6 (seriously!) and a Breitbart advertiser, do them today. It takes 5 minutes or less, depending on what you want to say to Tom Bodett.

2. Did they really think we were going to let 3 corporate shills walk off with the Internet?

Tuesday, Dec. 12th – Break the Internet!

On it, thanks! Read “I’m on the FCC. Please stop us from killing net neutrality” (LATimes)

Here’s a helpful graphic of what is coming if we don’t stand up now…

12-12-17 NetNeutrality Break the Internet Campaign_Page_1

Step #1 – Multi-media messages and send a note to Congress

We have just days. The FCC is about to vote to end net neutrality—breaking the fundamental principle of the open Internet—and only an avalanche of calls to Congress can stop it. So this Tuesday, December 12th, “Break the Internet” on your site, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, LinkedIn, reddit, Tumblr, Youtube or in whatever wild creative way you can to get your audience to contact Congress. That’s how we win. Are you in?

If you run a website, blog, tumblr, or forum, help spread the word by putting up a sticky post, or use one of these widgets, ads, or banners: https://www.battleforthenet.com/#join

Tell people what the internet will be like without net neutrality. There are already examples for us to study. Guaranteed our internet providers are studying them. Continue reading “Tuesday, Dec. 12th – Break the Internet!”

“I’m on the FCC. Please stop us from killing net neutrality.”

On it, thanks! Read the article here: http://beta.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-rosenworcel-fcc-net-neutrality-repeal-20171122-story.html

Indivisible Ventura was planning a rally alongside resistance groups all over the country today, Dec. 7th, exactly one week before the FCC votes to do to the internet what Trump did to Bears Ears National Monument. However, our local event has been CANCELLED due to fire conditions, but we can still do our part with these effective actions…

Step #1

FCC’s vote can be prevented by the House, so call your reps:

Minimal script: I’m calling from [zip code] and I want Rep. [___] to support Title Two net neutrality rules and urge him/her/they to oppose the FCC’s plan to repeal them. Specifically, I’d like our Congressmember to contact the FCC Chairman and demand he abandon his current plan.”

Rep. Julia Brownley: (CA-26): DC (202) 225-5811, Oxnard (805) 379-1779, T.O. (805) 379-1779

or Rep. Salud Carbajal: (CA-24): DC (202) 225-3601, SB (805) 730-1710 SLO (805) 546-8348

Step #2

Lobby the 3 FCC commissioners who are likely to vote ‘yes’ on repealing net neutrality, to try to get them to vote ‘no’ instead.  Apparently the phone lines are either being inundated with calls or have been shut off, so use other means if you can’t get through:

Join this nationwide effort with other Internet users outraged by top Verizon lawyer-turned-FCC-Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality, one week before an expected vote at the FCC.

We will make it clear to members of Congress that the time is now to stand for net neutrality, not Verizon’s bottom line.

PLEASE remember, this event is about protesting actions of Verizon executives, lobbyists and their supporters in Washington, NOT the employees at these stores.

Note that this is strictly a peaceful protest Continue reading “CANCELLED DUE TO THE FIRES! Rally to Protect Net Neutrality!”

Save Net Neutrality

We’ll be contacting BOTH the FCC and our Congressperson on this important action!

Congress Minimal script: I’m calling from [zip code] to ask Rep. [___] to do anything in his/her power to stop the  FCC from killing net neutrality and the strong Title II oversight of Internet Service Providers.

The FCC is corporatizing the internet. Light it up!

Battle for the Net! – Net Neutrality Day of Action.

Net neutrality protects our free speech on the Internet. The FCC wants to destroy net neutrality and give internet service providers like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T control over what we see and do online. If they get their way, they’ll allow widespread throttling, blocking, censorship, and extra fees.

July 12th, the Internet came together to stop them!
