Wed – 11/7: Well, that didn’t take long… get ready to rally tomorrow AND call your legislators!

Hmmm…a lame-duck government until Jan. 3, leaving our country without meaningful congressional oversight for the next 60 days and loud rumors from various sources that Donald Trump Jr. will be indicted before the end of the year by the Mueller investigation…

What could go wrong?

Action #1 – Call your legislators and demand that Matthew Whitaker recuse himself from the Mueller investigation.

Wed. 4/11 – The war on the truth continues. Power up your phones.

Trump sought to fire Mueller last December and on Monday, he said “many people” have suggested he fire him now, after the special counsel issued a referral that helped lead to a Monday FBI raid on Michael Cohen, Trump’s personal attorney.

Senators have just introduced a new bipartisan bill to protect Mueller.
Lots of noise and fury, but we’re yet to see a lot of signers on any of these bills.
This time you call, make it clear you expect to see your representatives names as cosponsors on all their houses’ bills.

Action #1 – Contact your Representative in the House

H.R. 4669 – Special Counsel Integrity Act

Wednesday 3/21 – Russia Watch – Omnibus spending bill and the Mueller Investigation.

Action #1 – #ProtectOurVote #PaperBallots

(from Loyal Opposition) Yesterday, we posted a call to action AGAINST many of the toxic riders the GOP has attached to  the Omnibus Spending Bill.

Today, we’re asking you to ask your legislators to attach something good. Like protecting our own elections against Russian interference.

House Democrats issued a comprehensive review of state voter system vulnerabilities and want $400 million in the Omnibus Appropriations bill which could be voted on as early as next week to help states convert to paper ballots and harden their systems against cyber-attacks.

The evidence behind their request is irrefutable. Russia hacked into state voter systems in the 2016 election, successfully penetrating several of the systems in the 21 states they attempted to hack.

The heads of U.S. intelligence agencies unanimously testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee that Russia is determined to interfere with our mid-term elections and could cause havoc by tampering with state voter systems.

Our state election systems desperately need to be upgraded: one in four U.S. voters vote on a system with no paper trail, and many others vote on systems that give the voter a receipt, but leave no paper trail that would allow the state to audit the accuracy of the vote count.

Most states have been attempting to harden their systems against cyber-attacks, but many lack the funds and expertise to get it done before the 2018 elections.

Action: Call your House Representative and urge him or her to provide money in the Omnibus Appropriations bill to help states convert to paper ballots that provide an audit trail and harden cyber security defenses. Thursday 1/11 – The FCC, Mueller and the Earth…

We’re cancelling our newsletter call on Net Neutrality.

All our legislators are on the job. Please thank them instead.

Both our Senators,  Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris are part of the 40 senators that signed Senator Markey’s Congressional Review Act resolution of disapproval to overturn FCC vote to end net neutrality. 30 members were required to send it to the floor for a vote. Thank them here. Feinstein email, Kamala Harris email.

Both our representatives, Salud Carbajal and Julia Brownley, have released statements that they will support legislative action to enforce net neutrality. Thank them here. Carbajal email, Brownley email.

Today is “Protect Mueller National Call-In Day”!

Let’s all take part and call our MoCs to ask them to do their part to protect him.  #ProtectMueller and #TrumpRussia

Environmental Actions

You can watch it below and/or read about all the acts here…, but while we were distracted with Trump’s supposed “War on Christmas”, an actual war on our environment was happening.

Sanity-Saving Good News – The #MeToo Edition

Good News for Women!

Time Magazine chose the women brave enough to stand up to their harrassers as “Person of the Year” over the man accused of being a harrasser himself. Which is great!

However, as we learn more about the #MeToo movement, it is disappointing to learn that the actual original author, Tarana Burke, who started it as part of her work with young harrassment and assault survivors more than ten years ago, wasn’t included on the cover. Our thanks and congratulations to her.

The kids are alright!

(Editor’s note: I don’t remember doing anything like this as a kid. I’m in awe of these young people…)

College students take classes to learn how to be philanthropists. We can also learn on-line, thanks to Warren Buffett’s sister.

“No Spencer, no KKK, no fascist USA.” University of Michigan students practiced the art of peaceful protest when Richard Spencer requested to speak on campus. (Hey, Ivanka, this is how you use the word “complicit“!) Meanwhile, 26 European countries have simply banned him.

These DACA/Dreamers went far beyond a simple march with signs in support of Dreamers.
