Until we know more about Jared Kushner’s friends, the Senate intelligence committee should ask to have his security clearance revoked. To get top secret clearance, Kushner had to list all meetings with foreign contacts over the last seven years. Kushner has updated this information not once, not twice, but three times. He’s suddenly recalled more than 100 foreign contacts. His bad memory and his private business problems leaves him open to “kompromat” and the US vulnerable to hostile actors.
Script: I’m calling to express my serious concern about Jared Kushner’s failure to disclose meetings with foreign officials and his clear knowledge of the Russian government’s effort to help the Trump campaign in June of 2016. Because of his repeated dishonesty, his national security clearance must be immediately revoked.
CALL Senator Feinstein: DC (202) 224-3841, LA (310) 914-7300, SF (415) 393-0707, SD (619) 231-9712, Fresno (559) 485-7430
AND Senator Harris: DC (202) 224-3553, LA (213) 894-5000, SAC (916) 448-2787, Fresno (559) 497-5109, SF (415) 355-9041, SD (619) 239-3884

We at Indivisible gnaw on legislators’ corruption and greed. The effort keeps us lean.

The Senate’s bipartisan bill (S.722) on sanctions for Russia and Iran heads to the House. The bill codifies the Obama sanctions, beefs up sanctions on cyber activity and weapons sales, and adds new sanctions for human rights violations. Critically, it gives Congress, not Trump’s administration, the right to review and reject any lifting of sanctions against Russia.
Script: I’m calling to urge Representative […] to support the efforts to enforce Congressional oversight for any lifting of sanctions against Russia and Iran. It’s clear that we cannot trust the Trump administration to do the right thing.
Call Rep. Julia Brownley (CA-26): DC (202) 225-5811, Oxnard (805) 379-1779, T.O. (805) 379-1779
OR Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24): DC (202) 225-3601, SB (805) 730-1710 SLO (805) 546-8348

(Huffpost) “Every year, the U.S. holds special citizenship-induction ceremonies on or around the Fourth of July. This year, nearly 15,000 people were being sworn in as U.S. citizens at more than 65 such gatherings across the country, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
At one of those ceremonies, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) ― the daughter of immigrants from India and Jamaica ― took not-so-veiled jabs at President Donald Trump, who has called for limits on legal immigration along with his effort to ramp up deportation of undocumented immigrants.
“Whenever you feel that future is threatened, whenever those values of liberty and justice for all that drew us here seem under assault, you need to speak up and speak out,” Harris said at a ceremony on the battleship Iowa in the Port of Los Angeles on Monday, according to prepared remarks. “That’s the whole point of the freedoms we cherish.” Continue reading “Your Weekly Dose of Sanity-Saving Good News! On Saturday, June 3, both Santa Barbara and Los Angeles will be holding a March for Truth. The goals are simple and bipartisan (at least, theoretically):
- Establish a fully funded, non-partisan independent commission;
- As much information as possible should be made public as soon as possible;
- Congress should require Donald Trump to release his tax returns to clarify his business interests and obligations to any foreign entity;
- If crimes were committed or if collusion is discovered, they must be prosecuted.
Those are goals we can all get behind!

Join us tonight at 8:30 PM ET for a Facebook Live for the latest on recess and saving health care. We’ll be joined by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities to answer your questions in real-time on TrumpCare, the CBO score, Russia, and how you can hold your members of Congress accountable this recess.
Our recess priorities: The Trump administration is forcing our movement to play defense on multiple fronts. The fate of the ACA is now in the hands of a Republican-led Senate that has tried to repeal it for 7 years. The connections between the Trump camp and Russian officials are becoming clearer. Trump’s draconian budget proposal is out and on June 7, the House GOP will vote on a bill that would gut protections for families from big Wall Street banks.
As former congressional staffers, here are the things we think you and your local Indivisible team should be prioritizing this Memorial Day recess.

GOP Senator: Hi, my name is ____ and I’m a constituent at [zip code]. I’mcalling to find out whether and when Senator ____ is going to take a stand regarding Trump’s divulging of classified information to Russian diplomats. As a resident of ____ and as an American, I expect Senator ____ to protect me, and to protect my country. Trump’s actions damaged our relationships with allies and made us less safe. [Go to either option below:]
[If they have made a statement condemning Trump’s actions]: I appreciate Senator _____’s understanding of the gravity of this situation, but a statement isn’t enough. What exactly is Senator ____ going to do to protect me as a citizen of _____, and as an American? At what point will the Senator start to put actions behind words, and be the leader that I know he/she can be? We’re waiting, and hoping, that he/she does the right thing and asks for Trump’s resignation. If he/she doesn’t I can guarantee that I will do everything in my power, and my fellow constituents will do everything in their power, to ensure that the Senator understands the tenacity of our disapproval. This will not go away.
[If they have made a wishy-washy statement]: Continue reading “Scripts about Russia for Everyone! Pick the ones that work best for you!”
