No More Delay: Pass the Dream Act (S. 1615) Now!

Minimal Script: I’m calling Senator Feinstein to thank her for co-sponsoring the bipartisan 2017 DREAM Act (S.1615), and to ask her to urge the Judiciary Committee to push it through quickly so it can proceed to a vote on the Senate floor.

More script if you want it:  The DREAM Act would override any effort by Trump to scrap DACA and its protections for young undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children.

Senator Feinstein: DC (202) 224-3841, LA (310) 914-7300, SF (415) 393-0707, SD (619) 231-9712, Fresno (559) 485-7430

Minimal Script: I’m calling from [zip code] to urge Rep. [___] to immediately pass a hurricane relief package for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, including waivers for both the Jones Act and the Federal Matching Requirements.

More script if you want it: It is inexcusable for the federal government to not take swift protective action when millions of Americans are in the midst of a dire humanitarian crisis.

The Dark Side returns. Fight back with your phone!

For those who missed this yesterday, take a moment and mentally thank Jimmy Kimmel for taking time out of his show for this!

Here’s another good video. Remind these senators what they said the last time our health care was at risk.

Step 1 – Put your own oxygen mask on first!

Minimal Script: Hi. I’m from [ZIP] calling to ask Senators [___] to oppose the Cassidy-Graham ACA repeal plan. Congress needs to improve the Affordable Care Act, not repeal it and leave millions of people without options. Thanks!

They almost have the 50 votes!

FACT #1: You must be their constituent to be counted.

FACT #2: It’s bad optics if BLUE voters flood RED senators’ lines

FACT #3: Also, it’s a waste of precious time. See Fact #1

FACT #4: There’s no law against encouraging their people to call…

The following is from the national INDIVISIBLE group.

How you can stop TrumpCare from a blue state.

Your tireless (and loud!) constituent power killed TrumpCare in July. And now, millions of people are depending on you to do it again. But if you live in a state with two Democratic Senators who oppose the ACA, you may be asking yourself: what more can I do? How can I influence persuadable Republicans in red states who may be on the fence?

Well, we have an answer! We’re bringing back the blue state/red state calling tool from the last healthcare fight. Continue reading “They almost have the 50 votes!”

If you can’t be in Sacramento standing beside us, flood their phone lines!

Script for Gov. Brown: My name is ___ and I’m calling to ask Governor Brown to support a strong California Values Act, SB 54, in its most visionary form. We cannot use California’s resources to help the Trump administration deport our comunity members.

Script for your Assemblymember: “Hi, I’m calling from [zip code] and I would like to  ask Assemblymember [___]  to support a strong SB 54, the California Values Act, in its most visionary form. Daylight cleans up a lot of things. Release the Steel Dossier Testimony.

Minimal Script: I am calling Senator Feinstein to vote YES on making public the 9+ hours of Senate Judiciary Committee testimony on the Steele dossier by Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS.

Sorry, Mr. Trump. California’s taking back our internet.

California Broadband Internet Privacy Act (AB 375) would prohibit an Internet service provider from using, disclosing, selling, or permitting access to customer personal information without prior consent. This bill restores privacy protections for California residents stripped away by Trump and the GOP earlier this year with the passage of S.J.Res. 34. Continue reading “Sorry, Mr. Trump. Healthcare Whiplash Wednesday thru Friday – Just keep calling…(Update)

Update 7/21:

Like the Monty Python skit, the GOP Senate health care effort is not dead yet.

There are many confusing options and money being thrown on the table and there is a tremendous amount of pressure without regard to human life and economic impact.

The GOP would like us to be quiet now but we cannot be.

Trump does not want Congress to leave for August recess until a bill is passed.

They couldn’t come up with a good bill in seven years; a few weeks will not be the charm.

As Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz tweeted: “Under-appreciated in 2017 is the biggest grassroots movement in human history just formed w/no politician in charge. Power to the people.”

We are those people!

Please keep up the pressure with your Senators!

Trump 1

(Ben Wikler, MoveOn) “…we need to make sure zombie Trumpcare stays in its grave. Remember, McConnell is still insisting on a vote next week on repealing the Affordable Care Act, even though he doesn’t have the votes to pass it—apparently because he wants to be able to say he tried before moving on to tax cuts for billionaires. We need to make absolutely sure that vote goes down in flames. But even after that, even if Republicans can’t repeal it legislatively, Trump will keep trying to sabotage it through executive action. And Trump’s budget calls for hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid. We still have to resist with all our might.

And it’s also time to look ahead. We must hold accountable everyone who voted for this hideous bill or came close to supporting it—and prepare to throw dozens of Republicans out of Congress next fall. And it’s time to rally Democrats in support of the visionary step forward that America still desperately needs: Medicare for All. “
