Your Weekly Dose of Sanity-saving Good News!

Buh-bye Bannon!

Steve Bannon has been removed from the National Security Council fulfilling our collective dreams when we made phone calls to our congresswoman!

…and Nunes

Devin Nunes will step aside from leading the investigation into Trump’s ties with Russia. (He’s now officially under an ethics investigation himself.) Was there a call to action on our part? Why, yes, there was! Great job everyone!

Next up – Bill O’Reilly! More than 40 companies pulled their ads from The O’Reilly Factor, following sexual harassment accusations. Sleeping Giants, who have worked diligently to have advertisers remove their presence on Breitbart, is now working on getting advertisers to stop advertising on Fox News during Bill O’Reilly’s show.  Keep up the pressure! Here is their current list that is being updated

And in case you missed it:

A Kentucky judge ruled that a lawsuit accusing Trump of inciting violence can proceed, dismissing his free speech defense. According to the judge, Trump’s remarks against protesters at a campaign rally “at least ‘implicitly encouraged the use of violence or lawless action.’”

California Leading the Charge

On Monday evening, Senate Bill 54, the “sanctuary state” bill, or CA Values Act, was passed. The bill will now go to the State Assembly, and if approved, to Governor Brown. Take some time to “happy dance,”because our phone calls began a process that will make a HUGE difference in so many lives!

Flood Feinstein – Call All Day! Neil Gorsuch is Supremely Extreme

The Senate Judiciary Committee will open hearings on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to SCOTUS on Monday, March 20th.  Democratic Senators will try to get a fix on Gorsuch’s legal views. We expect Gorsuch will try to say as little as possible.

Flood Feinstein: DC (202) 224-3841, LA (310) 914-7300, SF (415) 393-0707, SD (619) 231-9712, Fresno (559) 485-7430

Script: Hi, I’m calling from [zip code] to tell you I am terrified about Gorsuch’s appointment to SCOTUS. He could affect progressive causes, gay and transgender rights, affirmative actions and reproductive rights, just to name a few. Please do all you can to expose his ultra conservatism. Please do all you can to block his nomination. Thank you.

Feinstein on Gorsuch last month:  “I think we are dealing with someone who is impressive, so we’ll see.”

Educate yourself on Gorsuch’s conservative positions. He has not ruled on many issues, but the legal road signs are there: Continue reading “Flood Feinstein – Call All Day! Neil Gorsuch is Supremely Extreme”

Vote NO on Gorsuch for Supreme Court, the Extremist at the Heart of Hobby Lobby

Remember Hobby Lobby?  Neil Gorsuch voted in favor of Hobby Lobby when, citing “religious liberty,” it refused to provide contraceptive coverage for its employees.

Gorsuch is a Constitutional originalist, interpreting the Constitution as if we were still living in the 18th century. His Hobby Lobby “religious liberty” decision permitted legalized discrimination against the LGBTQ community and limits to contraceptive access. He will vote against gay marriage, abortion, immigrant and death-with-dignity rights, gun and environmental restrictions and to expand “Citizens United.”

For Senators Feinstein and Harris: (DC switchboard (202) 224-3121, other #’s below.)

Script: I’m [NAME], a constituent. I’m calling to let [Senator’s NAME] know that I do not support Neil Gorsuch’s nomination. I’m concerned that Gorsuch is a Constitutional originalist and out of touch with the modern world. His ultra-conservative, radical views on issues like gun rights, reproductive freedom, and environmental protections do not reflect the views of the majority of Americans.
