An urgent message from Team Al Otro Lado! Of the 29 families that we turned in at the Calexico port of entry this past Saturday, 13 are still being held! These parents were separated from their children and then deported from the U.S. without them. We need your help putting the pressure on Immigration And Customs Enforcement (ICE) to release these families so that they may be reunified with their children immediately! Action – Call your senator and tell them that we don’t accept McConnell’s edict.

Minimal Script: I’m calling from [zip code] and I want Sen. [___] to tell Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that your constituents aren’t accepting corruption-as-usual nonsense anymore and to bring H.R. 1 to the floor for a vote.

Up first, on March 21, we’ll focus on a letter-writing campaign imploring our Senators to do the right thing and to vote YES on the universal background checks bill S. 42.

Tues – 3/5: “The Wall – The Senate!” Season 2 – Call your legislators!

Action #1 – Got GOP senators? Tell them to stop being such big babies.

H.J. Res 46 –  the resolution to end Trump’s #FakeNationalEmergency, passed the House last week and it’s heading for a vote in the Senate. Mitch McConnell is now dealing with an explosion of defecting GOP senators, possibly 15, which puts it in striking range of a veto-proof majority and a huge and embarrassing defeat for the president. Many GOP senators are now swarming about, trying to subvert the intent of the House Resolution so that the president won’t give them a sad nickname.

“I think people want to find a way to give the president all the money he asked for but yet discourage the use of emergency declarations,” said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas).

No, Senator, that’s not at all what people want. That’s what you nervous weasels want.

  • We want him to stop stealing American taxpayer dollars to prop up his reelection campaign by keeping ridiculous promises to people who believed Mexico would pay for a wall.
  • We want him to stop stealing American taxpayer dollars from HUD, DHS and the Army Corps of Engineers to pay for this medieval wall, which was revealed by the El Chapo trial to be completely useless.

Minimal script to a GOP senator: I’m calling from [zip code] and I want Sen. [___] to know how disappointed I am in [his/her/their] willingness to let a president seize yet another power from Congress and to allow my tax dollars to be wasted on this wall.

Action Update – Let’s use our power of oversight to hem this guy in.

He’s in, on a basic party-line vote with only Sen. Collins crossing the aisle. Our EPA, as well as the GOP itself, are now completely owned by the fossil-fuel industry (read “Background” below). So where do we go now? RESIST, of course! We propose a serious email to all your legislators.

New minimal email:

“Until we are in a position to remove Andrew Wheeler, coal-industry mole and climate-change denier, from his new position at the EPA and repair the damage he’s causing, we want you to commit to using our power of Congressional oversight to investigate the following issues:

Corruption: Wheeler, after it was first rumored he would be considered for the EPA last March, raised funds for Republican senators on the committee that makes the preliminary decision on confirming appointments to the agency.  (intercept)
