Called #LettersForChange, this is a nation-wide effort! On the one-year anniversary of the March For Our Lives, our handwritten letters will be hand delivered directly to our senators’ D.C. offices by March For Our Lives volunteers. We’re talking about unleashing a full-on flood of snail mail in Congress.
You helped get the background checks bill through the House
and into the Senate. That’s a *huge* accomplishment. Now we need to make sure our senators vote YES on this bill.
March For Our Lives D.C. is taking direct action to let the Senate know that 97% of Americans support universal background checks. We’re calling on our senators to pass the background checks bill by writing them letters. A lot of letters.
We know background checks can save lives, but even so — this bill may not even get a vote in the Senate. March for Our Lives is counting on us to help make a statement to our senators. To make that happen, they need to deliver a RIDICULOUS amount of letters to our senator’s offices.
Let’s do this!
Can’t make the party? Here’s what you need to know to send a letter on your own:
March for Our Lives encourages everyone to write their own letters about the issues of importance to your community. Personalizing these letters is what will make a difference. Share your story with your Members of Congress. Force them to understand what your community goes through, your concerns, and what legislation you want to see implemented. We want to amplify your stories and your experiences to create real change.
-
Utilize your personal stories, feelings, and ideas — humanize gun violence prevention.
-
Call out your Members of Congress on their voting record and force them to take notice!
-
Be sure to reference S. 42, the Universal Background Checks.
-
Make sure to include your zip code! Staff use this to verify that you are a constituent.
-
Reference your Member of Congress by name.
