The Dark Side returns. Fight back with your phone!

For those who missed this yesterday, take a moment and mentally thank Jimmy Kimmel for taking time out of his show for this!

Here’s another good video. Remind these senators what they said the last time our health care was at risk.

Step 1 – Put your own oxygen mask on first!

Minimal Script: Hi. I’m from [ZIP] calling to ask Senators [___] to oppose the Cassidy-Graham ACA repeal plan. Congress needs to improve the Affordable Care Act, not repeal it and leave millions of people without options. Thanks!

Vote YES on “Medicare for All”

With the bi-partisan healthcare group disbanded, GOP members are more motivated than ever to pass their horrible Cassidy/Graham bill.

This just in… “Overnight Health Care: GOP chairman declares bipartisan ObamaCare fix dead, Trump to make ObamaCare payments for September/Graham predicts 50 votes for ObamaCare repeal bill.” (The Hill)

Step 2 – Help your families and friends be heard in RED states.

They almost have the 50 votes!

FACT #1: You must be their constituent to be counted.

FACT #2: It’s bad optics if BLUE voters flood RED senators’ lines

FACT #3: Also, it’s a waste of precious time. See Fact #1

FACT #4: There’s no law against encouraging their people to call…

The following is from the national INDIVISIBLE group.

How you can stop TrumpCare from a blue state.

Your tireless (and loud!) constituent power killed TrumpCare in July. And now, millions of people are depending on you to do it again. But if you live in a state with two Democratic Senators who oppose the ACA, you may be asking yourself: what more can I do? How can I influence persuadable Republicans in red states who may be on the fence?

Well, we have an answer! We’re bringing back the blue state/red state calling tool from the last healthcare fight. Continue reading “They almost have the 50 votes!”

Yeah, we weren’t kidding about this horrible healthcare proposal. Call. every. day. 9/18

As more details come out about their plan, we are stunned to find it’s more devastating than the ones that came before…
Call every day, or until they stop.

Your Weekly Dose of Sanity-Saving Good News – “Finding Your Voice” Edition.

This weekend will only have Good News and some helpful links for both DACA and SB 54. We don’t need a recap to know that this has been an incredibly hard week.  For those of you who are still waiting, toe poised above the water…

The civil rights movement was messy, disorderly, confrontational and yes, sometimes violent. Those standing on the sidelines of the current racial-justice movement, waiting for a pristine or flawless exercise of righteous protest, will have a long wait. They, we suspect, will be this generation’s version of the millions who claim that they were one of the thousands who marched with Dr. King. Each of us should realize that what we do now is most likely what we would have done during those celebrated protests 50 years ago. Rather than critique from afar, come out of your homes, follow those who are closest to the pain, and help us to redeem this country, and yourselves, in the process.”

Standing up for DACA! We’re peacefully protesting everywhere! You can do it from your couch!

This Week in Resistance – “We have art in order not to die of the truth.”

This wasn’t where I planned to start, but this short video is profound and it moved me to tears…

Removing the statues = Step 1. The Equal Justice Initiative (eji.org) is working to ensure that we better understand the history of white supremacist violence against black people with a national lynching memorial.  Watch this great interview of the EJI Director Bryan Stevenson and singer songwriter Andra Day on the Daily Show. Your Weekly Dose of Sanity-Saving Good News! – “Look for the Helpers” Edition

Despite having never having watched Mr. Rogers as a child, a video of him speaking about how his mother taught him to deal with bad things has stuck with me.

And now, I too, look for the helpers when something terrible happens. And there they are. In Charlottesville. The heroes who jumped in to help in the face of imminent danger, the police who came from far away to keep people safe, including the state troopers who died, and the people who work, tirelessly, year-round, to make Virginia an good and more equitable place to live. And the brave resisters, of all types, who stood up for our morals and our values…

…from the woman who died…
