Vote NO on Jay Clayton for SEC Chair – how many Wall Street loyalists do we want in this administration?

How many Wall Street loyalists do we want in this administration? As Elizabeth Warren points out, Jay Clayton spent decades getting Wall Street banks off the hook and is married to a Goldman Sachs broker.

Now, Trump has nominated him to chair the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He is, quite literally, married to the industry that he is being tasked to regulate.

Script: I’m calling today to oppose Jay Clayton as SEC Chairman. In 2008, the SEC got too cozy with Wall Street and we taxpayers lost more than $16 trillion dollars and 3 million of our homes, while Clayton helped Goldman Sachs make off with billions of our tax money. Clayton is a Wall Street insider who will not put the interests of American people first.

Delay Vote on Neil Gorsuch Until Russia Probe – Call our Senators!

After FBI Director Comey’s testimony before the House the legitimacy of Trump’s presidency and his entire administration is in question. With so much yet unknown about the administration’s dealings with the Russians, Congress cannot consider the lifetime appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

That’s why it’s imperative that the Senate heed Senator Chuck Schumer’s call to stop Supreme Court confirmation hearings—until a full and independent investigation has been conducted.

Beyond the GOP’s unprecedented blockade of Merrick Garland, we can’t be sure the current administration is legitimate. Democrats need to defend the Court and America by refusing to confer a lifetime appointment to the Court until the administration has been proven legitimate.

Not so fast on the Trumpcare vote. No ACA votes before new CBO report!

Republicans in Congress are scrambling, making last minute changes and compromises to Trumpcare. Their goal is to repeal the ACA on the 6th anniversary of its passage, March 23rd.

However, changes deserve thorough vetting, not being rushed through for a stunt deadline. Demand another CBO analysis, and 48 hours for public review, before any vote.

Demand an Independent Commission on Russia – Call our Representative! (2 of 2)

On Monday, FBI Director James Comey confirmed they have been investigating ties between Trump’s campaign and Russia since July of 2016. Despite this bombshell, the House Intelligence Committee focused instead on leaks to the press.

This investigation cannot move forward with partisan politics. A 9/11-style special commission into Russia’s interference is required.

Delay Vote on Gorsuch before Russia Probe – Call our Senators! (1 0f 2)

On Monday, FBI Director James Comey confirmed that they’ve been investigating ties between Trump’s campaign and Russia since July of 2016.

We cannot allow Trump to make a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court until we are confident that Russia did not tamper with our election. Our senators must filibuster Gorsuch until the Russian investigation is completed.

Vote NO on Gorsuch for Supreme Court, the Extremist at the Heart of Hobby Lobby

Remember Hobby Lobby?  Neil Gorsuch voted in favor of Hobby Lobby when, citing “religious liberty,” it refused to provide contraceptive coverage for its employees.

Gorsuch is a Constitutional originalist, interpreting the Constitution as if we were still living in the 18th century. His Hobby Lobby “religious liberty” decision permitted legalized discrimination against the LGBTQ community and limits to contraceptive access. He will vote against gay marriage, abortion, immigrant and death-with-dignity rights, gun and environmental restrictions and to expand “Citizens United.”
