Both federal and state legislators have listened to our calls for reform, as these unidentifiable masked entities accelerate disappearing people from our communities, sometimes with brutal force. There are now at least three federal actions and two CA state bills to call your legislators to support.

Why is it not a surprise they’re going after the disabled? We have until Monday, June 16, 8:59 pm PDT, to flood them with “significant adverse comments!”

Tell CA’s leaders to Defend their Constituents from Federal Crackdowns on Peaceful Protest.

Send letters to our senators, our governor and our attorney general!

Is this our America now? Masked men pushing a student into an unmarked car? A young woman chased down by a dozen officers over the protests of her neighbors? Children being zip-tied or abandoned in a vehicle by ICE? People dragged away from immigration check-ins and fake court hearings? David Huerta, the president of the SEIU California, thrown against a curb by faceless men for peacefully protesting in LA? (see statement from LA Police below) And now, Californians being threatened with our own National Guard troops by the President and Marines by DoD Secretary and All-Star Incompetent Peter Hegseth.

SB 540 – the bill we’ll never notice until it’s too late…and coal companies control CA’s energy future. (updated 9/02!)

UPDATE! This is as urgent as it gets – we need to prevent the utility regionalization bill that would give away control of California energy to coal states and to Trump. Leaders in the Assembly may come up with a gut-and-amend bill at the last minute, but it would mirror SB 540 Pathways, which was unable to move through Assembly committees due to its unpopularity. 

The two people who can stop this backroom dealmaking are Pro Tem McGuire and Senator Limon, Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus, who will be the new Pro Tem next year.

Everyone can call both McGuire and Limon because they are the present and future leaders of the Senate. But if you’re a constituent of either, please mention that in your call. The next three days are crucial!

Tell your legislators to vote “NO!” on the SAVE Act, a trojan horse for Christofascist voter suppression

What these patriarchal Christian Nationalist legislators want is a return to government run like it was by the signers of the Constitution – with only the richest White men being allowed to vote.

UPDATE: THE GREAT VOTER SUPPRESSION BILL has just passed through the House! Even more horrible, four Democratic-name-only legislators helped! Reps. Ed Case of Hawaii; Henry Cuellar of Texas; Jared Golden of Maine; and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington state.

How close can they get to their ideal before the midterms? A lot closer if they can pass the SAVE Act, a cynically named elitist bill that’s actually a form of voter suppression against women, poorer American citizens and minorities – all those whom the GOP suspects will vote for Democrats.

Dear President Trump and Vice President Vance,

Thank you for your kind invitation to take us over and subjugate us as a colonial state.

We will pass.

We like our national health care system, and are not interested in learning the finer points of medical bankruptcy, insurance denials, unaffordable medications, and lack of access. We respect science and would prefer to hang with other nations that do so too. In fact, lots of your best scientists will probably be relocating to Europe soon. We ourselves would be happy to offer asylum to the well-trained doctors your states chase out with abortion bans. Abortion has been legal here since 1975.

He was part of a 19-state effort lead by NY AG Leticia James to bring unelected techno-fascist Elon Musk and his team of flying monkeys to heel. Just as when we criticize those legislators who seem to have lost their spines in the wash, we also need to THANK those elected officials who have stood up and protected those they serve.
