Wed 12/16: Biggest gift you can give this holiday season – Call Congress to stop ICE from deporting detained children.

These kids are running out of time. They can’t wait out Trump’s last days of destruction.

Over 20 families with young children who are incarcerated by ICE at the Berks and Dilley family prisons are in imminent danger of being deported as early as TODAY. Yesterday, a federal court in Washington D.C. lifted the stay of removal that had been protecting these families from being deported.

These families were denied the right to seek asylum under Trump administration policies that federal courts have since ruled were unlawful. ICE plans to deport these children to face death or torture in their home country. These families, who are from Haiti, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, Honduras, El Salvador, and Ecuador, have been locked up in unsafe conditions throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The government should correctly apply federal law to allow the families to have their asylum claims heard. The Shut Down Berks Coalition and a coalition of national organizations are requesting urgent Congressional intervention to stop the deportations.

PLEASE MAKE THESE 5 CALLS to these members of Congress and the USCIS to ask them to take urgent action to stop these deportations.

Tues 3/24: “Cruel and unusual” – Law enforcement and punishment in a pandemic.

Quote by Dr. Ranit Mishori, a professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine and medical adviser to the group Physicians for Human Rights. “

Action #1 – Tell ICE to stop sucking up supplies of surgical masks needed for real emergencies.

ICE has recently ordered 45,000 N95 surgical masks so that agents can be protected when they round up undocumented people, prior to putting them into jails where they will become vulnerable to COVID-19 infection. Nearly half of immigrants detained by ICE have been accused of no crime other than civil immigration violations, and many probably would not have been held under previous administrations. Rep. Omar stated “Immigration detention facilities, even before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, have been breeding grounds for illness. For detainees who are immunocompromised or otherwise susceptible to the worst consequences of contracting Covid-19, holding them in detention may be literally a matter of life or death.

Please contact Amanda Stought and ask her to reconsider her order and to ask ICE to stand down during until this pandemic is over.

Minimal script: Good [morning] Ms. Stought. You may have noticed the pandemic in the news, and the associated lack of PPE gear (personal protective equipment) for medical professionals and first responders. Please consider that none of the people your ICE officers arrest deserve a coronavirus death sentence. Keep your officers at home, safe with their families during this lockdown like everyone else and send all your N95 masks to hospitals where they’re desperately needed.

CONTACT: Email her at and/or leave her a call at 202-732-2544.

Action #2 – Release ALL non-violent offenders, including detained immigrants.

Monday 2/12 – Dreamers, ICE and Debt collectors

IMMIGRATION – Monday 2/12

#1. Time is Running Out: Fix DACA for Dreamers Now

The most recent government shutdown resolution failed to protect Dreamers.  DACA deportation protection will end on March 5 if Congress fails to act.

Minimal Script: I am calling from [zip code] to ask Rep./Sen. [___], to voice my strong support for a clean Dream Act. Don’t waste our money on a wall, and tell the GOP that reunification is what “pro-family” actually looks like.

Ask CA legislators to pass SB 183 and keep ICE out of State buildings. Deadline Sept. 15!

(Photos from

Minimal Script: I’m calling from [__] and I’m asking my Rep [__] and Sen. [__] to vote YES on SB 183 (“State buildings: federal immigration agents” Act) before the legislative deadline of Sept. 15th.

More Script if you want it: This bill would make schools, state-owned buildings and college campuses off-limits to federal immigration agents and would force officers to get warrants before they visit public sites for surveillance or arrests. Our neighbors need this to feel safe in their daily lives.
