“Wake up, America!” #BLM protests & other antiracist, anti-fascist & pro-democratic things to do…

July 31 – We have so much work to do & nobody’s slowing down…

Emmett Till died on Aug. 28, 1955 at the age of 14. 1955 is not that long ago. What was called the “last lynching in America” took place in Alabama in 1981. At least, it was until Ahmaud Arbery was gunned down while jogging in Georgia last year. The tally expands every day.

When you hear of parents telling school boards to stop teaching the accurate history of racism in America, we wonder if it’s not just about critical race theory, or the 1619 project, about which they’ve been deliberately misled. We wonder if they’re not just worried that their kids will look at the dates of these not-so-long-ago events, and put two and two together – how people they know – their parents, their grandparents and great-grandparents, could be culpable of racism too…like protesting the teaching of the accurate history of racism in America, for a start.
