IMMIGRATION – Monday 2/12
#1. Time is Running Out: Fix DACA for Dreamers Now
The most recent government shutdown resolution failed to protect Dreamers. DACA deportation protection will end on March 5 if Congress fails to act.
Minimal Script: I am calling from [zip code] to ask Rep./Sen. [___], to voice my strong support for a clean Dream Act. Don’t waste our money on a wall, and tell the GOP that reunification is what “pro-family” actually looks like.
Rep. Julia Brownley: (CA-26): DC (202) 225-5811, Oxnard (805) 379-1779, T.O. (805) 379-1779
or Rep. Salud Carbajal: (CA-24): DC (202) 225-3601, SB (805) 730-1710 SLO (805) 546-8348

and Senator Harris: DC (202) 224-3553, LA (213) 894-5000, SAC (916) 448-2787, Fresno (559) 497-5109, SF (415) 355-9041, SD (619) 239-3884

#2. Let’s put a “restraining order” on ICE.
ICE has been entering the grounds of courthouses, hospitals, churches, and schools to conduct warrantless searches. These actions make our communities less safe and less healthy for all of us. “Protecting Sensitive Locations Act” (H.R. 1815), will keep them 1000 feet away from these locations.
Minimal Script: I’m calling from [zip code] to ask Rep [___] to co-sponsor the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act (H.R. 1815).
Rep. Julia Brownley: (CA-26): DC (202) 225-5811, Oxnard (805) 379-1779, T.O. (805) 379-1779
or Rep. Salud Carbajal: (CA-24): DC (202) 225-3601, SB (805) 730-1710 SLO (805) 546-8348

#3. Today in “Misleadingly-named bills”…
On Wednesday, the House will be voting on HR3299, the “Protecting Consumers’ Access to Credit Act of 2017.” This bill permits payday lenders and other non-bank institutions to use “rent-a-bank” arrangements to evade state usury laws and make loans with interest rates in the triple digits, trapping low-income consumers into deeper debt.
Minimal Script: I’m calling from [zip code] to ask Rep [___] to vote “NO” on HR3299, the “Protecting Consumers’ Access to Credit Act of 2017.”
Rep. Julia Brownley: (CA-26): DC (202) 225-5811, Oxnard (805) 379-1779, T.O. (805) 379-1779
