Probably every sentient being in CA received this glossy screed of misinformation, misdirection and outright nonsense from the “No on 50” campaign. It uses different arguments than what the “YES on 50” campaign is focused on, as they are reaching out to the MAGA and undecided demographic. But the damage of an unconstrained Trump for another two years will harm all of us, so we need to be able to competently push back against what they’re shoveling. There are 5 points to cover. Buckle up!
People are starting to gear up again for an “Ides of Trump” action, where we’re all supposed to send postcards to 47 to express our anger and disappointment.
Please! No! Been there, did that, in 2017 during his first administration! All of our cards, millions of them, ended up in a warehouse somewhere, like that crate in the last scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark, never read and never seen again.
Seriously, even if Trump had asked to read some of them for the hell of it, the tears of their enemies makes dictators happier, not repentant.
It’s time for all of us to step up and do these actions. No one will hit us with clubs, spray us with fire hoses, set dogs on us, or in the case of the 1963 Jackson, Mississippi lunch counter protest, cover us with condiments.
Along with all the one-week actions, all anyone has to do is NOT SHOP AT TARGET again until after April 17th. 40 days is long enough to make a serious impression on Target, if WE DO IT!
Virginia became the 38th and final state needed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in 2020. It’s been stuck since then.
Please take this action ASAP as we want President Biden to PUBLISH the ERA before he leaves office.
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s charge under the Trump administration was to get the USPS ready to sell off to an oligarch donor, using the same arguments that tricked other countries into killing their national postal services. His methodology – closing locations, cutting staff, raising prices and slowing service enough to threaten the 2020 election – was, as Noam Chomsky observed, “…the standard technique of privatization: defund, make sure things don’t work, people get angry, you hand it over to private capital.”
