Deadline this Wednesday, Nov. 15th! Save the Tule Elk!

Take a moment to write a comment supporting the continued existence of the tule elk, a subspecies of elk that was decimated nearly to extinction. (Californians need to call too. Script below.)

A small protected population survives in California, and now livestock interests are pressing the National Park Service to kill them or severely restrict their movements (which has previously led to starvation) so that the relatively small amount of public land allotted to this native species can instead be used to graze their cattle. Speak up so that they can survive and remain free-roaming.

While our attention was on taxes, these horrors have quietly crept out of their committees. Call, Call, Call!

Unfortunately these anti-“Endangered Species Act” (ESA) bills have just made it out of committee and can be put on the schedule as early as this week! Put them all together in a single call and make sure the intern answering the phone gets all the bill numbers right and that it’s a big fat “NO” on all of them.

Surprise! The GOP would like the poor & elderly to pay for poor children’s healthcare.

Yeah, we weren’t surprised either…

Hey, rich guys, how about thinking outside the zero-sum race-to-the-bottom hunger-games you’ve got the poor and middle-class trapped into?!

Here’s some creative ideas…

Increase the Alternate Minimum Tax, instead of removing it.
Decrease the estate tax exemption instead of doubling it.
Leave the “pass-thru” right where it is. Kansas barely survived their experiment.
Pass a single-payer health care system that includes children.
Raise FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act) taxes. After reaching $127,200, a taxpayer no longer pays a Social Security deduction. $2 TRILLION dollars of earnings escape this tax.
Increase the Medicare surcharge on wages over a quarter million dollars, the Hospital Insurance tax and medicare taxes on unearned income, instead of eliminating them.

The “You have got to be kidding me!!!” guy is up for a vote tomorrow. CALL!

This Wednesday, the Senate will be voting on the confirmation of Trump’s nominee William Wehrum, to lead the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Air and Radiation. Mr. Wehrum is a petrochemical lawyer and climate denier. The nomination has angered environmentalists, given Wehrum’s history as a lawyer for industries he would soon be charged with regulating, including polluters who are actively suing the EPA. Watch this great video as Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley discovers “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”

CA Senator Harris also nails him on the California waiver issue.
