11/25: Today is the deadline to comment on the EPA rollback of protections against methane. The rich aren’t worried. They have bunkers.

Action #1: Write a comment to prevent the fossil fuel industry’s ploy to rollback methane standards. Deadline: Monday, 11/25, 11:59 pm EST.

Today is your last chance to comment on the administration’s proposed rollback of regulations on the fossil fuel industry’s handling of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Many of us have wondered why they keep undoing our environmental protections…don’t the human beings behind these actions – rollbacks that will continue to drive pollution and global warming, care about themselves and the world their children and grandchildren will inherit?

Are they so wealthy that concerns about clean air and water are beneath them? Yes, actually… for an estimated 5 years, if they can make it to their climate-change-proof bunker in time.

Despite orchestrating deceptive campaigns for decades to make average Americans doubt the existence of global warming, our billionaire class knows the truth and are making plans. We are cordially NOT invited to join them.

  • Write your comment here.
  • Read their rollback proposal and specious reasoning here.
  • Read other comments for inspiration here. As always, commenters, DO NOT COPY OTHER COMMENTS, use pre-written comments from websites or sign petitions. The government searches out and destroys identical comments and only counts petitions as (1) signature.
  • Deeper dive into the methane regulation rollback and other interesting information below.

Action #2: Call your legislators and get them to stand up against this abuse of our regulatory agencies and our environmental protections.

Fri- 6/14: Et tu, Gavin? Tell the Gov. to read SB-276 – it just stops fake vaccine exemptions. Then ask Assemblymember Limón to vote it through the Health Committee.

Sarah C’s story  Sarah W’s story  Dr. Swarzberg’s story  Mobius’ story   Megan’s story

Medical exemptions have more than tripled since the passage of SB 277. Some schools are reporting that more than 20 percent of their students have a medical exemption. It is clear that a small number of physicians are monetizing their exemption-granting authority and profiting from the sale of medical exemptions.” – Pediatrician & State Sen. Dr. Richard Pan.

Action – YES on SB-276. Nudge Newson, make the call to Assembly Member Limón on the Health Committee.

We’re concerned that Governor Newsom has been so busy that he hasn’t had a chance to read SB-276Immunization: medical exemptions. (Jessica Biel, who still isn’t a real doctor, hasn’t read the bill carefully either.) Three years ago, CA passed SB 277, a bill which eliminated “personal belief” exemptions, and vaccinations reached the 95% level necessary to provide herd immunity for kids who are immunocompromised or are too young. Now all that is at risk again because of doctors who sell fake medical exemptions to parents. SB 276 is aimed at tracking doctors who create an inordinant amount of exemptions, who may not have even seen the child, or who use reasons for exemptions don’t follow CDC guidelines.

On June 20th, Assembly Member Monique Limón will be part of the Assembly Health Committee which will vote on this action. (Other members listed below) Go ahead and call your representative whether or not they’re on this committee.

Minimal script for your Assembly Member: I’m calling from [zip code] and I want Assembly Member [___] to vote “YES” on SB-276. Children should be able to go to school without fear of preventable disease. Continue reading “Fri- 6/14: Et tu, Gavin? Tell the Gov. to read SB-276 – it just stops fake vaccine exemptions. Mon 3/18: Keep strong Carbon Dioxide Emission Limits on Coal Plants – Comment in 10 minutes or less. Deadline tonight, 11:59 pm EST

Action – Protect Carbon Dioxide Emission Limits on Power Plants — Deadline TONIGHT, 3/18, by 11:59 pm EST.

We are currently starring in a terror movie, the plot worthy of any James Bond film. The villians, billionaires and multi-national corporations, in pursuit of boundless profit, are killing off our environmental protections, not only returning us to the days when our rivers caught on fire, our water gave us cancer and our air killed our kids, but to huge new disasters we’ve never seen before – hurricanes too big for our categories, tornados made of fire, 100-year or 500-year floods that happen every year.

If we’ve waiting for a superhero to save us… well, one 16-year-old girl from Sweden sent tens of thousands of school kids into the streets to protest government inaction.

Now it’s our turn.

Submit a comment to the oil-industry-controlled EPA opposing their proposed rule change that would eliminate our current strong carbon pollution standards that apply to new, modified and reconstructed fossil fuel-fired power plants. The administration’s proposal would relax the standard to a level that can easily be met with standard technology, continuing coal’s reign as our dirtiest energy polluter. Yes, it’s true what our opponents say. The carbon-capture rules DO make it really hard and expensive to build new coal plants.

Good.

Tues – 1/29: How has climate change affected you?

(Photo – Thomas Fire burns near Meiners Oaks in the Ojai Valley.)

This is our chance to let Congress know how climate change is affecting our lives.

(From Jim Hines, Los Padres Sierra Club)

Greetings Climate Activists:

Our good friend congressman Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) chair of the House Committee on Natural Resources will be holding a month long series of hearings on the climate change crisis.

And he wants to hear from YOU. How has climate change impacted YOU.

Please share your thoughts with Chair Grijalva here.

Chair Grijalva will be using your comments and testimony from the hearings to develop far reaching climate change legislation this year

Jim
