Wed. – Sun 10/13: The Governor’s deadline to sign laws is THIS SUNDAY! (4) HUGE actions! – UPDATED

Action #1 – UPDATE! Ask the Governor to sign AB 342 – “No New Oil Leases Act.” Oil pumps coming to a neighborhood near you!

Update 10/13/19:

  • AB 342 Public lands” leasing: oil and gas: prohibition APPROVED BY THE GOVERNOR.

On Friday, while we were tranfixed by the political soap opera which is now our presidency, the Trump administration announced it would make 725,000 acres in California’s central coast open to oil and gas lease sales, ending a five-year moratorium. The BLM, ignoring 400 public comments and scientific research to facilitate the administration’s “energy dominion” policy, is now putting both the land, wildlife and people in Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Merced, Monterey, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Stanislaus Counties at increased risk of toxic pollution.

The BLM is also looking closer to home with a proposal to conduct new oil and gas development on 1.6 million acres of public land in an area which covers Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura counties, includes about 400,000 acres of public land and 1.2 million acres of federal mineral estate, according to the report.

Let’s make this as hard as possible. State lawmakers passed AB 342  to deter companies from drilling on federal land. The bill would prohibit the construction of new oil and gas infrastructure on state land if it is being built to support production of oil and natural gas upon protected federal lands and is sitting on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk since 9/12.

Action #2 – Stop being such babies, CA legislature. OVERRIDE NEWSOM’s veto of SB-1!

Tues – 9/10: Guns meet common sense – access limitations and federal universal background checks for guns AND bullets.

See story and video of suspect stopped BEFORE people were killed here. This happened yesterday, 9/9.

Action #1 – Still in play! CA actions to limit access to guns – “YES” on AB 893 – Stop gun shows at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and SB – 61 – Firearms Transfers.

AB 893 – “22nd District Agricultural Association: firearm and ammunition sales at the Del Mar Fairgrounds” would, on and after January 1, 2021, prohibit the sale of firearms and ammunition at the Del Mar Fairgrounds property located in the 22nd District Agricultural Association, as specified, and would thereby make a violation of that prohibition a misdemeanor. The bill would exclude from its provisions a gun buyback event held by a law enforcement agency. (Assemblymember Gloria)

Minimal script for your State Senator: I’m calling from [zip code] and I want Senator [___] to vote “YES” on AB 893.. It’s time for stop our public property to be used for gun shows and it’s also time that funding for all political messages, from whatever media, is no longer a secret from voters.
