“NO” on Trump’s racist nominee to “oversee” (aka “destroy from within”) the Bureau charged with protecting refugees and immigrants.
President Trump announced he has selected Ronald Mortensen, an anti-immigration advocate to be the Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM). Mortensen works for the notorious white-nationalist organization, Center for Immigration Studies, and would be the fourth individual from this anti-immigrant hate group to join the Trump administration. Mortensen’s record directly undermines the bureau’s mission to protect refugees and victims of conflict. Mortensen should not be confirmed by the Senate.
Sample Script: I’m calling from [zip code] to urge Senator [___] to vote NO on Ronald Mortensen as Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration.
More script if you want it: Mortensen’s xenophobic rhetoric and long history of antagonism to the rights of refugees and immigrants undermines the bureau’s core mission to protect refugees and victims of conflict.

This week, Together Rising raised 1.4 million dollars to help provide immigrant children with advocates and lawyers. Many people do not realize that very young children, including those who speak no English, are routinely sent in front of judges with nobody to represent their interests. A senior Justice Department immigration judge told the ACLU “I’ve taught immigration law literally to 3- and 4-year-olds… They get it.” Seriously?
Thank you, Senator Feinstein!
“Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) plans to introduce legislation to prevent the separation of immigrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border, as the Trump administration is facing deep scrutiny over its policy. It’s hard to conceive of a policy more horrific than intentionally separating children from their parents as a form of punishment. … This is not what the United States of America should be,” Feinstein said in a Thursday statement.
