Good evening, progressive warriors!
We’re getting excited – our advance team is heading to Fresno on Friday to join our fantastic local organizers and volunteers – the countdown has begun! We can’t wait to welcome you to our first monthly canvass as we begin to take back Congressional District 22!
I’m going to recap general info below for everyone so that new people to the sign-up can get the big picture. We also have the sign-up link for our statewide all-volunteer conference call Thursday, July 20 at 7pm PST. Plus, we’ve included some carpool and hotel updates. Read on for lots of helpful information, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions.

Saturday, July 22
– 9am Carpools from all over the state arrive in Fresno: see meet-up address above.
– 10am Training
– 11am Canvass Shift 1
– 1pm Break for lunch, sandwiches from canvass sponsor Indivisible: Conejo
– 2pm Canvass Shift 2.
– 5pm We’ll have a locally hosted pizza party, then knock off for the night.
Sunday, July 23
– 9:30am Pancake breakfast for volunteers at the Congregational Church, hosted by the local Indivisibles and Dem Clubs.
– 12pm Canvass Shift 3
– 3pm Debrief, then head home.

How does this canvass work?
What to Expect:
Canvassing teams will be driven to their turf by local volunteers, who will check in with cold water during the shift, and come back for teams when they’re finished with the three-hour shift. Each team of two will work its side of the street. Teams will stay in touch with the team working the opposite side of the street.
Out-of-District Volunteer Accommodations
The First Congregational Church in Fresno is providing their multi-purpose room for our volunteers to camp in. You should bring your sleeping bag, a mattress pad, and whatever you need to sleep comfortably. We also have a block of rooms for two people to share, for $52 per person. To reserve your shared room, or to reserve your own room, contact me.
The hosts will provide the following meals: sandwich lunch, and pizza dinner on Saturday; pancake breakfast on Sunday. The local groups are also providing water and granola bars (thank you so much!!).
Drivers and canvassers, please bring your cellphone and charger, preferably also a portable charger; very comfortable, breathable clothes and walking shoes, hats, sunscreen, your own water, and any snacks or drinks you want to bring for yourself. Plan for 100+ temperatures each day.
Statewide All-Volunteer Conference Call
Thursday, July 20 at 7pm PST
We’ll cover last-minute details for local and out-of-district volunteers, and answer questions. Please plan to dial in.

Carpools and Hotel
Hotel: Out of district volunteers: If you plan to reserve your own private room, please email me so I can provide you with the hotel information. If you plan to share a room, we will switch the room into your and your roommate’s name on arrival. Roommate assignments will be mailed tomorrow.
Carpools: if you are driving a carpool from outside the district, or have offered to, please send me your Saturday meet-up location and departure time for your car. Thank you for driving a team!
