Quotation about Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in The Bayou Brief…
The Resistance isn’t going back to sleep. That’s not how it works anymore.
We still have work to do. And because we’re Indivisible, we’re uniting with people who need our help all over the country. Donate, phone bank, text bank, write.
Action #1 – Sunday Citizenship Fair – Oxnard College Community Marketplace – Volunteers Needed!
One of the things we’ve discovered since the last presidential election is how much can be accomplished by regular concerned citizens. We also realize how lucky we are that our forebears, leaving behind starvation, desperate poverty or persecution, were able to come to America and start again.
Therefore, we decided to do something hands-on to share a little of our own good fortune to help the newest immigrants in our community.
Are you patient? Good with detail and paperwork? Ability to speak Spanish is awesome but not required.
Join us, local Indivisible groups, amazing immigration attorneys, El Concilio, SEIU, CLUE and volunteers from everywhere, as we help people work through the government forms required to maintain or improve their legal status. Even to become American citizens. And voters. For free. On the last Sunday of the month.

Action #2 – Volunteer to help Mike Espy turn this Senate seat blue. – Nov. 27th Runoff Election – It’s way past time.
1965 – “Mississippi Goddam” by Nina Simone as a protest song in the aftermath of the assassination of Medgar Evers.
Mike Espy is running against Senator Cindy (“If he invited me to a public hanging, I’d be on the front row“) Hyde-Smith, an appointee who replaced GOP Senator Thad Cochran earlier this year and who has voted with Trump 100% of her short time in the Senate. In 1986, Espy became the first African-American from Mississippi elected to Congress since Reconstruction. In 1993, he became Secretary of Agriculture in the Clinton Administration.

Action #3 – Help Georgia get a GOOD Secretary of State, like John Barrow. Really. It’s crazy there.
Is there another state that needs a Democratic Secretary of State to oversee voting and elections more than Georgia? Georgia needs a complete overhaul of how they engage voters with elections. Former Congressman John Barrow (D) is facing Brad Raffensperger (R) and here’s how we can help.
