Monday #TrumpShutdown – 3 actions!

In 2013, Trump laid the blame for any government shutdown directly on the president. Hmmm… not so much now..

Brighten the President’s morning by leaving him a personal message!

In case you haven’t seen or heard this…

Call him or leave a written message! Here’s a starter script to get you going…

Good morning, President Trump!

You have an amazing opportunity to avoid being remembered in history books as the President who inflicted the greatest moral and economic wound of the 21st century by expelling nearly 800,000 productive people from America, the only home they’ve ever known.

It’s too late to change the history that DACA, CHIP, the Federally Qualified Health Centers and the Puerto Rico recovery effort were placed behind destroying our health care and personally enriching yourself with tax cuts when the clock ran out.

However, you can still do the right thing now. Be brave.

Tell the Democrats to be strong.

Vicente-Fox-Trump-ladderThe GOP’s preoccupation with repealing our health care, their own enrichment from the tax scam and Trump’s erratic tweetsmanship, came at the expense of the DACA kids, kids who need CHIP insurance, and disaster relief.

(Read more here and here.) Check who voted to do the right thing here.

Minimal script for Democrats: I am calling from [zip code] to thank Senator [___]  for standing up for a clean Dream act, funding CHIP and Health Centers and disaster relief while negotiating in good faith to re-open the federal government. Stand strong against the wall, don’t let them waste our money. We’ve got your back.

Please comment on “bump stocks” to the ATF. Deadline January 25th.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is considering treating “bump stocks” like the ones used in the mass shooting in Las Vegas as falling under the legal definition of machine guns. Under laws already in place, the sale and manufacture of new machine guns for civilian use is banned and those already in circulation are tightly regulated. Extremist groups like the Gun Owners of America are urging their members to flood them with objections. Let’s let them know that we’re here, we are the majority who want common sense gun safety laws, and we think this would be a valuable step in the right direction. Comment here.

Sample Written Script: I support restricting the sale of bump stocks that transform legal semi-automatic weapons into illegal machine guns.  Under laws already in place, the sale and manufacture of new machine guns for civilian use is banned and those already in circulation are tightly regulated This is a common sense gun safety restriction that can help protect citizens from massacres such as occurred in Las Vegas.
