We’re waking up! Monday – 11/12

#1. – The GOP is officially really nervous!

The GOP has just discovered that people don’t like their plan, so their sales job is intensifying. The Treasure department just put out a one-pager to say that the King-of-Bankruptcies’ policies are enough to increase tax revenue to cover the proposed cuts, but we’re not fooled by their lies. The GOP has already openly announced that they’re sharpening their knives for our social safety net –  Medicare, Medicaid, and welfare, to pay for the huge deficit they’re creating to enrich themselves and their masters.
The House could have just voted for the Senate plan and they’d have been done. Instead they made the mistake of giving us more time to see what’s in this bill. More people are waking up to its essential immorality.

Over 650,000 calls are beginning to spook them…

Add yours! Every day this week. Even if your Representative or Senator is a Democrat.

Minimal Script: I’m calling from [zip code] to express my strong disapproval of H.R. 1, the disastrous Republican tax scam, and to ask that Rep. [___] vote against it when it comes out of the conference committee.

More script if you need itThis proposed tax scam must be stopped. The GOP is targeting welfare, Medicare and Medicaid spending to pay for their own faulty, deficit-producing tax scam OR  [insert personal reason], or find your favorite reason here.

Readings:
The Game is transparent
“The game is transparent: Republicans claim, despite all evidence to the contrary, that tax cuts will pay for themselves, and when those cuts result in huge deficits, they use them as leverage to force Democrats to accept new spending cuts. That’s precisely what happened under Obama after George W. Bush’s tax cuts blew a giant hole in the federal budget. Lather, rinse, repeat.
But this fight is not over. The House and Senate still need to reconcile their respective bills, and resistance groups are focusing especially on the House, where everyone’s up for reelection in 2018 and the divide between the hardcore members of the “Freedom Caucus” and more pragmatic members may imperil final passage. It’s still worth contacting your representatives.” -(Bill Moyers)
Their goal is the destruction of the New Deal

Shortly after President Trump took office, House Speaker Paul Ryan could feel just how close he was to finally achieving the goal he and his party colleagues had dreamed about for decades….take(ing) a wrecking ball to the system of American government that has been in place since 1933 and replace it with one based in their own ideology. If the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” becomes law, they will have succeeded.
It is hard to overstate the significance of this bill. It is a poison pill, killing the New Deal. The series of laws put in place by Franklin Delano Roosevelt and a Democratic Congress in the 1930s regulated business so employers could no longer abuse their workers or destroy the environment. It provided basic social welfare to support the elderly and infirm, and it developed infrastructure to guarantee everyone equal access to economic opportunity. Crucially, Democrats based their system on a distinctive ideology: The government must keep the economic playing field level for all Americans. As people at the bottom prospered, they would fuel economic growth for everyone. (Bill Moyers)

#2 – Today in “Totally Inappropriate Judges” – Stop this guy!

grasz_steve-240x300

Don’t let his “I-spent-my-high-school-years-stuffed-in-a-locker” looks fool you. This guy is attractive to Trump and his minions because he’s so young and hateful at the same time. A perfect combo to corrupt a lifetime appointment and do real damage to our justice system..

Minimal script: I’m calling from [zip code] to ask Sen. [___] to vote ‘NO” against the nomination of Leonard Steven Grasz of Nebraska for US Circuit Judge of the Eight Circuit because he is a  right-wing fanatic who should not be allowed to sit in judgement over anyone.

More script if you need it: He’s opposed to women’s reproductive rights and  LGBTQ equality, supports conversion therapy and the death penalty, and has real difficulty with the separation of church and state. He even questions the Supreme Court’s legitimacy when it issues decisions he personally disagrees with.

Senator Feinstein: DC (202) 224-3841, LA (310) 914-7300, SF (415) 393-0707, SD (619) 231-9712, Fresno (559) 485-7430

and Senator Harris: DC (202) 224-3553, LA (213) 894-5000, SAC (916) 448-2787, Fresno (559) 497-5109, SF (415) 355-9041, SD (619) 239-3884
