Our indefatigable band of corporate shills has created three deceptively named bills with the express purposes of lessening your health, safety, civil rights and environmental protections against the predations and profits of their industry masters. It’s a horror we have to stop.
Script: I’m calling to ask Senator (______) to vote against all the deceptive attacks on the protections that serve us, your constituents.
This includes: S.951, which will block all new rules that protect our health, environment and civil rights in favor of corporate interests, S.21, which will create regulations that obstruct the operation of the federal government and S.34, will allows the GOP to kill programs and services without consideration of the effects on us.

More Info: S.951 “RAA – Regulatory Accountability Act” This bill is described by the Environmental Defense Fund as the “scariest legislation you’ve never heard of”. It gives corporate interests the ability to roadblock nearly all future regulations created by federal agencies, and to jeopardize existing protections by requiring any new rules to meet impossible standards. This will cause endless litigation or give a free pass to industry.
S.21 “REINS Act – Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (lame acronym)” All major programs and funding requests for services would be subject to a 70-day passage through both chambers, allowing the GOP to let the clock run out. It also requires agencies to waste time & money reporting on the impact of any major funding request or program on corporate interests rather than focusing on what’s needed to serve tax-paying citizens.
S.34 “Midnight Rules Relief Act” This bill allows Congress to quickly vote down large groups of legislation that had been submitted to Congress during the last 60 legislative days of the Obama administration. Because they can disapprove legislation en bloc, representatives can kill a particular bill or program without having to go on record that they did it. Clean hands count back at home.
