This is historic. The House Rules Committee just announced it will be holding the first-ever hearing on Medicare for All this Tuesday, April 30th, at 10 AM.
Action – Activate your “family and friends” committee!
Our Reps. Brownley and Carbajal aren’t on the Rules Committee, and we can’t call other people’s representatives. (What!? Why not?) So look at the list below of committee membership, and look to see if any of the hold-outs are in districts of your families and friends. If you don’t know, don’t worry.
Your friends have friends who have friends. This is our secret power!
ACTIVATE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA! Call/email/facebook/tweet/instagram/etc. to your social circle to get the members of these legislators’ districts to call their offices.Offer this short script to get them started: I’m calling from [zip code] and want Rep [___] to use their position on the Rules Committee to support H.R. 1384: The Medicare for All Act of 2019.
Slightly more if they want it: …because there is no place for corporate greed and profiteering when it comes to people’s lives, and I believe every person should have the right to guaranteed quality health care.
