Not our word. John Brennan, former CIA director, lays it out.
Indivisible was created to fight against the Trump agenda, but who could have imagined our president standing next to the former head of the Soviet KGB, and stating that our own country had been idiotic to fight against him?
So who else is Trump’s best friend?
#1 – Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh
No surprise why Brett is a must-pass for our president.
However, he is so inappropriate to preside over a national stage that NAACP, National Education Association, the National Immigration Law Center, National Women’s Law Center, Fight for the Future, Human Rights Campaign, NARAL, Americans United, Alliance for Justice, Leadership Conference, Lambda Legal, Anti-Defamation League, AFL-CIO, and the Sierra Club have all written briefs against him.
Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s nominee to fill retiring Justice Kennedy’s seat, will undergo examination by the Senate Judiciary Committee at what promises to be a contentious confirmation hearing. Our own senators, Kamala Harris and Dianne Feinstein sit on this committee and have pledged rigorous questioning of Kavanaugh, including his opinions on abortion, guns and the environment and the ACA. The Russion threat should be on the table too. Let’s call them and to tell them we fully support their efforts to ask tough questions of Kavanaugh and that we want to make sure the confirmation process is not rushed.
[And if you’re feeling tempted to call Sen. Susan Collins (R, ME) or Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R, AK), two GOP senators whose votes may be pivotal in blocking Kavanaugh, Indivisible has advice why that is NOT a good idea. ]
Minimal Script: I am calling from [zip code] to support Sen. [Feinstein/Harris] to asking tough questions and demand straight answers from, partisan nominee Brett Kavanaugh at his confirmation hearing about women’s right to choose, the ACA, the environment and gun control and whether or not he will stick to his original “hands-off” approach if a sitting president is complicit in allowing a foreign country to interfere with our democracy.
Call Senator Feinstein: DC (202) 224-3841, LA (310) 914-7300, SF (415) 393-0707, SD (619) 231-9712, Fresno (559) 485-7430
and Senator Harris: DC (202) 224-3553, LA (213) 894-5000, SAC (916) 448-2787, Fresno (559) 497-5109, SF (415) 355-9041, SD (619) 239-3884

#2 – Adjudicating like it’s 1949 again! Vote NO on Andrew Oldham, Ryan Bounds
Since taking office, Trump has consistently nominated extreme ideologues to the bench and just as consistently, these nominees have been approved in partisan votes by the GOP-dominated Senate. Andrew Oldham and Ryan Bounds are two such controversial nominees coming up for a vote this week. They fit the Trump mold of holding extreme anti-government views, with documented histories of ruling against women’s reproductive rights, environmental protections, voter rights, and immigration rights. Bounds would be appointed to our circuit court and would begin the process of transforming it into a rubber stamp for Trump’s conservative policies. Call to urge a NO vote on these two out-of-the-mainstream judges.
- Read more about Ryan Bounds here and specifically, his history of racist statements here, and from our earlier column on him here. Ignore the flag in his photo.
Minimal Script: I am calling Sen. [___] to urge a NO vote on the nominations of Andrew Oldham (Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals) and Ryan Bounds, (Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals–our circuit!).
Call Senator Feinstein: DC (202) 224-3841, LA (310) 914-7300, SF (415) 393-0707, SD (619) 231-9712, Fresno (559) 485-7430
and Senator Harris: DC (202) 224-3553, LA (213) 894-5000, SAC (916) 448-2787, Fresno (559) 497-5109, SF (415) 355-9041, SD (619) 239-3884
