Action This Morning to Support Our Farmworkers!

URGENT: Show up this morning (Tuesday) to support farmworkers!

Over the past year, local farmworker advocates have been in constructive dialogue with agriculture industry leaders to find common ground around how to improve working conditions for farmworkers.

CAUSE and MICOP and key industry leaders reached an agreement to support a $200k Ventura County Farmworker Resource Program, which would help farmworkers learn about their legal protections, resolve issues with their employers, and navigate public agencies.

Ventura County Supervisors Steve Bennett and John Zaragoza are now proposing this program to be included in next year’s budget, and have placed it on the Board of Supervisors agenda tomorrow morning.

Many agricultural leaders will be joining farmworker advocates to do the right thing in support of a Farmworker Resource Program. However, we also expect to face attacks by industry representatives who prefer knee-jerk opposition and conflict.
We need you and other supporters to show up in solidarity with local farmworkers and the growers who are working constructively with us to seek positive solutions.

Today, Tuesday, June 6th at 10:30am
Board of Supervisors Room, Hall of Administration
Ventura County Government Center
800 S. Victoria Ave. Ventura, CA

Please wear blue to show your support for farmworkers from the audience. If you choose to speak, please focus on the positive benefits of a Farmworker Resource Program rather than engaging in back-and-forth attacks.
