Update: There was some pretty snaky stuff going on at the BLM as they attempt to hand over a beautiful wilderness area to a Chilean copper mining giant with a lousy environmental record. (More links under “Reading” below) Along with other protesters, Indivisible Ventura emailed a letter demanding they reopen the site AND extend the deadline to make up for the lost time, which was copied to our senators, representative and Rep. Grijalva (D-AZ), head of the House Natural Resources Committee. We’ll be watching…

Although a request is in to extend the comment period to 60 days, go ahead and post a public comment directly with the US. Forest service here, opposing the proposal to renew expired mineral leases on the Superior National Forest near the Boundary Waters by new deadline of Jan. 30th.
