Action #1 – Meet us on the sidewalk in front of our Ventura County Government Center on Sat. June 15th at 11:00 am.
“If we had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said that.” – Robert Mueller.
The Mueller report confirms what we’ve always known: Trump abused his authority, violated the law, and tried repeatedly to obstruct justice. These are impeachable offenses. With control of the House, Democrats should use their power to do the right thing and begin impeachment proceedings.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s resolution (H.Res.257) is a good step forward (See action #2 below). It’s time for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to exercise bold moral leadership and begin impeachment proceedings, so we can have the full, public inquiry that we deserve instead of dangerous inaction that enables a racist, xenophobic and law-breaking president. The last time an administration refused to comply with a congressional subpeona was at the beginning of the Teapot Dome Scandal. If our president is or has been involved illegal activities, we want to know. We are his boss. Not the other way around.
Come join us at the Ventura County Government Center at 800 S. Victoria (at the corner with Telephone) This is a peaceful, family-friendly and non-violent protest. Please bring a sign, American flags, your loudest voice and come dance to our great protest music soundtrack!
Afterwards, relax and join in the Juneteenth celebration in Oxnard!
10:00 to 5:00 pm at the Plaza Park in downtown Oxnard. Information here.
Action #2 – Remind our legislators that we expect them to do SOMETHING – like cosponsor H.Res.257.
H.Res.257 – “Inquiring whether the House of Representatives should impeach Donald John Trump, President of the United States of America” is a modest first step, especially for a president, who, according to the Mueller report, was assisted into office with attacks on our political system by Russian military intelligence officers, and who participated in several felony counts of obstruction of justice. (Read Erik Sandoval’s LTE here.) H.Res.257 not actually impeachment. It’s just formally designates the Committee on the Judiciary to gather evidence necessary to decide whether or not the House of Representative should impeach Trump. It empowers them to take affidavits and depositions by a member, counsel, or consultant of the Committee, pursuant to notice or subpoena.
Rep. Salud Carbajal has said he would like have all the facts against Trump before embarking on any impeachment proceedings. He said the American people need to be on the side of impeachment, otherwise the conflict will divide the nation. “He will continue to reassess his position on beginning an impeachment inquiry as additional facts are brought forward,” a spokesperson said.
Rep. Julia Brownley has stated. “Congress must, at the right time, open an impeachment inquiry.”
Both our legislators seem to be searching for something that is EXACTLY like H.Res.257, which was introduced more than two months ago. So where are our legislators on the cosponsors list? (See who has committed, who said “NO” and who’s on the fence here.)

Action #3 – Many Senators and Representatives haven’t read the Mueller report. Have ours? Let’s ask!
It was impressive enough to make Republican break ranks.
(From 5calls) Over 2 months ago, on April 18th 2019, Attorney General William Bar released to the public a redacted version of Mueller’s report on the investigation and findings into Russia’s effort to interfere in the 2016 election. Even though approximately 12% of the report is redacted, the 448-page, 2 volume report details both Russia’s attempt to interfere in our elections “in sweeping and systematic fashion” and 10 potential instances of obstruction of justice by Trump.
Even though this report is potentially the most significant document delivered to Congress in our lifetime, many Senators and Representatives have admitted they have not read the report. Rep Justin Amash (R-MI), the only Republican to call for the impeachment of Trump, came forward with his support “only after having read Mueller’s redacted report carefully and completely.”
Minimal Script: I’m calling from [zip code] and I want Rep. [___] to at least take the first step of cosponsoring H.Res.257. I would also like to verify that [she/he] and [her/his] staff have followed Republican Justin Amash’s lead and have read the Mueller Report.

“…Donald Trump and his Attorney General, William Barr, are betting that most Americans will not read this report for themselves. So far, they are right. According to a CNN poll, only 24% of Americans say they have read any of Mueller’s report, A full 75% have opted not to read the 448-page document, and just 3% report having read the entire thing…”
