Action – Ask your representative to cosponsor and vote “YES” on Savannah’s Act
Savanna’s Act (S.1942 /HR 4485) is a bipartisan bill named afer Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind, a pregnant Fargo woman who was abducted and killed last year in a baby-snatching case.
The bill would make it easier to track murders and abuse of Native American women, 84% of whom experience violence in their lifetime. In 2016 alone, over 125 Native American women and girls were reported missing in North Dakota. This bill is being blocked by the soon-to-be-retiring House Judiciary Chair, Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), after passing by a voice vote in the Senate. Says Rep. Heidi Heitkamp, “My bill is being blocked from a vote in the U.S. House because of petty partisan games being played by one individual, Republican Congressman Bob Goodlatte”
Minimal script: I’m calling from [zip code] and I want Rep. [_____] to cosponsor HR 4485 – “Savanna’s Act” and to corner Bob Goodlatte and ask him what is wrong with him.
Has your rep. already cosponsored this bill? Check here. (Brownley and Carbajal are NOT signers yet!)
