Please comment on “bump stocks” to the ATF. Deadline January 25th.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is considering treating “bump stocks” like the ones used in the mass shooting in Las Vegas as falling under the legal definition of machine guns. Under laws already in place, the sale and manufacture of new machine guns for civilian use is banned and those already in circulation are tightly regulated. Extremist groups like the Gun Owners of America are urging their members to flood them with objections. Let’s let them know that we’re here, we are the majority who want common sense gun safety laws, and we think this would be a valuable step in the right direction. Comment here.
Stop criminalizing marijuana and destroying another generation of our kids and families.
The war on drugs is never been about protecting us from dangerous drugs. The interests actively campaigning against legalizing marijuana are mainly concerned about money. (snopes addition re: private prisons) Congress must act now to protect states’ rights to license and regulate cannabis businesses operating within their borders. Ask you legislator to support two bills: Rep. Rohrabacher’s bipartisan “Respect State Marijuana Laws Act” (H.R.975) (this sort of makes my head explode a little) and Sen. Booker’s “Marijuana Justice Act” (S. 1689).
Minimal script: I’m calling from [zip code] to ask Senator [___] and Rep. [___] to co-sign and support H.R.975 (for Reps)/S. 1689 (for Senators).
