Local Measures

Measure ICITY-SPONSORED COMMUNITY FACILITIES DISTRICT NO.5 (RIVERPARK) NO TAX INCREASE, PUBLIC SAFETY, NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES MEASURE.

  •  Shall the City of Oxnard-sponsored measure to continue current funding for Community Facilities District No. 5 (RiverPark) and maintain community safety, enhanced police protection, neighborhood/park patrols, keeping public areas clean, safe, well-maintained, including parks, open space; maintain flood protection, without any increase to the existing maximum tax rate, continuing ongoing public disclosure of spending and annual reports — be adopted?
  • (CAUSE) “This measure proposes a half-cent increase in the City of Santa Barbara’s existing sales tax, raising the rate to 9.25%. The increase is expected to generate over $15.6 million annually. The City Council has put this measure on the ballot to address anticipated budget shortfalls, particularly following a $7.1 million shortfall this year. While further advocacy is needed, some of the additional funds could be allocated to services such as tenant protections, homelessness support, and affordable housing initiatives.”

Measure JREPEAL OF COMMUNITY FACILITIES NO. 5 (RIVERPARK) SPECIAL TAXES

  • Shall an ordinance to repeal all special taxes specific to RiverPark (Community Facilities District No. 5), eliminating funding for extra police protection services, neighborhood/park patrols within RiverPark, eliminating funding for maintenance of RiverPark parks and open space, sports fields used for youth baseball and soccer, trails, dog parks at enhanced service levels, eliminating funding for landscaping maintenance, flood and storm protection services — be adopted?

You can see how this would play out if the “NO” side wins…
Funding is removed. RiverPark facilities quickly go downhill. Public spaces become strewn with trash and graffiti, while criminal activity increases. Storm and flood protection services eliminated just in time for some awesome global warming event, very similar to how the GOP House Republicans refused to fund an additional $10 billion for the FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund in their continuing resolution …during HURRICANE SEASON…because they couldn’t get their racist and nonsensical election bill passed!

The right, living in their gated communities, wants damage and crime to happen to the rest of us, so they can go full MAGA-Law-&-Order over the shambles they helped create. And then blame it on immigrants. Vote “NO.”

Rinse and repeat this for Measures K and L.

Measure R – Pothole Repair, City Services

  • “Shall the measure funding Santa Paula services such as accelerating repair of streets/potholes; preventing sinkholes; repairing sidewalks; maintaining 911 response; retaining local businesses; cleaning up public areas; maintaining storm drains/clean drinking water sources; offering youth programs; and for general government use by enacting a 1¢ sales tax providing approximately $4,500,000 annually until ended by voters; requiring audits, public spending disclosure, all funds benefit Santa Paula residents, be adopted?”

Watch video here: https://youtu.be/95UQDMTPtR8?si=FTzfw_wYyk-STTbw

  • (CAUSE) “This measure proposes a 1-cent increase in the sales tax, raising it to 9.2%, to generate $4.5 million annually until voters decide otherwise. The additional revenue would support various services, including faster street and pothole repairs, sinkhole prevention, sidewalk repairs, 911 response maintenance, local business retention, public area cleanup, storm drain upkeep, clean drinking water sources, and youth programs. The measure would also mandate audits and public spending transparency. While the city already has a long-term plan for infrastructure repairs and maintenance, Measure R would provide the necessary funding and potentially speed up the process.”
