State Senator – 21st Senatorial District – Vote for (1)

WINNER

State Senator Monique Limón (D)

This is what a competent state senator looks like!

  • MONIQUE LIMÓN
    • Age: 44
    • City of residence: Goleta
    • Occupation: CA State Senator District 19
    • Education: UC Berkeley (BA), Columbia University (MA)
    • Funding: here
    • Endorsements: here
    • Website: moniquelimonforsenate.com

As a lifelong resident of the region, I’m honored to represent Ventura County in the State Senate.

I have a proven record of working to improve our schools, protect our environment, expand job training, advance women’s health care, protect consumers, combat the high cost of living, and bring resources to our area to prevent and fight wildfires. That’s why I am proud to be supported by a broad range of community leaders including teachers, nurses, and firefighters.

Since being elected, I’ve worked to tackle climate change, protect consumer privacy, improve mental health care and long-term strategies to prevent homelessness, improve access to quality healthcare including aging and Alzheimer’s, and help safeguard human trafficking survivors. Access to healthcare continues to be a priority for our community and I have worked with a coalition to protect and improve it. I earned a 100% voting record with Health Access California.

I’ve worked to protect our air, water and coastline, and earned a 100% rating from the Sierra Club and California Environmental Voters.

In response to the Supreme Court’s overruling of Roe v. Wade, I co-authored Proposition 1, which passed overwhelmingly by the voters of California, to enshrine the right to choose for women in our State Constitution.

These challenging times require effective leadership and the integrity to stand up for the people of the Tri-Counties.

I believe my record reflects both. I would be honored to earn your vote for my re-election to the State Senate. Thank you for your consideration.”

  • (CAUSE) “Monique Limón currently serves as State Senator for District 19. Prior to joining the State Senate, Monique served as the Assemblymember for District 37 from 2016-2020. Throughout her tenure as a state legislator she has worked to advance women’s issues, affordable housing and tenants rights, and helped put a stop to corporate polluters in disadvantaged communities. In 2022, Monique was named an Environmental Justice Champion by the California Environmental Justice Alliance. As a State Senator, she will be a strong voice for environmental justice, affordable housing, and women’s rights.”

Elijah Mack (R + L) BEWARE OF THIS FORCED-BIRTHER CANDIDATE!

Mr. Mack may be only 19, but he’s already learned the trick of LYING by omission.

All that libertarian freedom doesn’t appear to extend to women. We’re waiting for Elijah to come out publicly and say what his social media posts do – he believes in fetal-personhood.

We have scoured his official website. However, some of the most interesting stuff was on his “X” account, where, amongsthis bro friends, we found his actual beliefs on a woman’s right to choose, which are very much in opposition to the libertarian claptrap on his official site. On “X”, he says he is just against the use of taxpayer dollars for the procedure – California is one of 17 states that uses its own funds to pay for abortions for medicaid enrollees, instead of burdening our poorest women with a health and life-endangering condition against their will.

But we don’t believe it ends there for our friend. All the crosses and bibles on his site were there for a reason. Given a chance, we believe that Mack would not only vote against abortion, but would be a fetal-personhood backer as well, especially based on his posting of a nonsense-filled mansplainer-video from “Franco.” (pubmed.ncbi.hlm.nih.gov)(scientificamerican.com)

Mr. Mack, it’s OK to decide for yourself and any woman who chooses to be with you not to have an abortion for religious reasons (true consent would require you to divulge this issue prior to sex), but as a political candidate in a SECULAR society, a society where women are now literally DYING over the GOP’s abortion bans, it is UNFORGIVABLE AND COWARDLY that you hide this philosophy from those who might vote for you!

WHOA! Here we find out how misogynist and homophobic you are!

In fact, you might want to add a whole section on your “Issues” section official website on the distain you feel for women. The post below on the left, implies that women are too dumb to know which end is up and has a very “incel” vibe to it.

And holy homophobia, Batman! Despite all your claims to be for “lifestyle liberty”, and being internet-research-capable, YOU DELIBERATELY CHOSE TO A UNLOAD A HOMOPHOBIC FALSEHOOD about Senator Weiner’s bill SB 145, legislation which stopped the unfair targeting of the LGBTQ community, while leaving in place existing penalties for sexual assault, rape or child exploitation. LOL, yourself!

Oh, hello, election-denier-without-the-bravado-to-go-through-with-your-own-little-covert-experiment!

Had you actually ever bothered to sign up as a poll worker, you would have learned in your training session that your name would have been marked with a “show ID” designation on the rolls. If you had mailed your ballot in, you would have gotten a notice that you needed to “cure” your ballot before it would be counted. Instead, you decided to share your sneaky low-info antics like you were exposing some grand conspiracy. Seriously!

OK, back to his issues website…we’re only going to point out the dumbest or most harmful bits. There’s really too much to cover here.

  • Free markets:Libertarians like myself, on the other hand, believe that no competitor in the marketplace should be given special privileges, and that all businesses should be able to operate with little-to-no taxes, fees, and restrictions, so long as they do not defraud or harm their employees or customers.
    • Actually, fraud and harm are why regulations exist. Not everyone has the money to fight a business or an employer, and for those who are harmed-to-death, where do they go?
  • Environmental Preservation:I believe that preserving and protecting expansive open spaces and untouched wilderness is a non-negotiable for a healthy environment and a happy society. As a staunch Preservationist, I will fight tooth and nail to defend California’s natural wonders and diverse environments from encroachment and damage.”
    • OK, this part is truly hilarious. It is because of regulations that we can preserve and protect open spaces, and also, all your GOP compatriots are just waiting for the starting bell to mow everything down. “Drill, drill, drill!”
  • Lifestyle Liberty:I will support legislation that gets the Government out of your personal lifeI will also fight to protect the rights of the LGBTQ community, I will work to remove restrictions and regulations impeding individuals seeking traditional lifestyles of self-reliance…”
    • Yeah, you need to be clearer about that last bit. Are you talking about sovereign citizens? You certainly aren’t going to vote to allow women the right to their bodily autonomy, and you’ve already displayed your homophobia.
  • Strong communities:I will push to incentivize non-profits, worker’s unions, charities, and Samaritan groups and Mutual Aid Societies, to care for their communities and labor force, to help reduce dependence on the State and Federal Government services and decrease spending in the long run. I will seek to move funding from wasteful and inefficient State programs to fostering sustainable local solutions.”
  • Firearms: “I believe that all adult Californians with a clean bill of mental health should be able to safely possess and carry firearms for self-defense.
  • School Choice:If elected, I will support legislation to make private education and charter schooling more accessible.”
  • Immigration:If elected, I will work to streamline immigration processes and protect peaceful undocumented immigrants currently residing in the State of California, while making sure that proper vetting and border security measures are in place and actively enforced.
  • Government Transparency:Californians have a right to know what their government is doing, and which special interest groups are influencing their officials.”
    • You know what would be more cool? Fighting directly against Citizens United, and not allowing companies with significant foreign ownership influence our elections.
  • Justice Reform: As a Libertarian, I believe our justice system should target crimes of aggression, theft, and fraud first and foremost. I believe in softening sentences for Victimless Crimes…”I believe in decriminalizing, but not encouraging drug use.”
    • This is the classic Libertarianism that makes it so popular with young men. What are victimless crimes? Prostitution, assisted suicide, trespassing, recreational drug use, drug possession, gambling, public drunkenness, possession of contraband, public nudity, homelessness. Not all are harm-free, and some will put Mack on a collision course with the GOP, and some churches. Which is maybe why he’s not being endorsed by right-wing groups like freeventuraaction.org. Just guessing.
  • Medical Freedom:As a Libertarian, I believe that in the state of California, legislators on both sides of the aisle have failed to uphold bodily autonomy and medical freedom...California law continues to prohibit medical testing/use of substances like PsilocybinThe Government should not require or pressure individuals to receive elective medical treatments like vaccinations.
    • This is another happy place for young Libertarians. We have no problem with psilocybin if dispensed with adequate instructions, but we believe that vaccines should continue to be mandated for those who work in conditions where dangerous and highly communicable diseases pose a mortal threat to those in confined quarters without their consent.
    • Oh, yeah. Women should get to decide on giving birth.

As for libertarianism itself, we’ve like this quote from Thomas Frank, author of The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule: “…libertarianism is good because it helps conservatives pass off a patently pro-business political agenda as a noble bid for human freedom. Whatever we may think of libertarianism as a set of ideas, practically speaking, it is a doctrine that owes its visibility to the obvious charms it holds for the wealthy and the powerful. The reason we have so many well-funded libertarians in America these days is not because libertarianism has acquired an enormous grassroots following, but because it appeals to those who are able to fund ideas. Like social Darwinism and Christian Science before it, libertarianism flatters the successful and rationalizes their core beliefs about the world. They warm to the libertarian idea that taxation is theft because they themselves don’t like to pay taxes. They fancy the libertarian notion that regulation is communist because they themselves find regulation intrusive and annoying. Libertarianism is a politics born to be subsidized. In the “free market of ideas,” it is a sure winner.”

U.S. Representative – 27th Senatorial District – Vote for (1)

WINNER

State Senator Henry Stern (D)

(dailynews) “One of the top issues facing the city and his district, Stern said, is figuring out “how to get people off the streets who are maybe mentally ill. Or are they just addicted? What happens when people get dismissed from (Men’s) Central Jail onto the street?”

Extreme floods and fire disasters become the key issues when they hit the region, but on a daily basis, he said, homelessness and public safety are the number one issues.

Henry Stern said he has been working on enhancing criminal penalties in the areas of public safety, retail theft and extreme speeding.

He has earned endorsements from Gov. Gavin Newsom, the California Democratic Party, the California Association of Highway Patrolmen, California Professional Firefighters, the Sierra Club and the California Teachers Association.

After winning the office in 2016, Stern authored the Wildfire Resilience through Community and Ecology Act in 2021, following the devastating 2018 Woolsey Fire that burned 96,949 acres and destroyed 1,643 structures including many homes. The law inspired Newsom to launch the California Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force to pinpoint high-risk buildings in wildfire-prone zones and beef up building standards.

Stern lobbied for the permanent closure of the Aliso Canyon Natural Gas Storage Facility, the site of the disastrous 2015 SoCalGas leak that drove more than 11,000 San Fernando Valley residents out of their homes. As chair of the Senate Natural Resources & Water Committee between 2018 and 2022, he led decarbonization efforts to cut the harmful impact of indoor air pollution caused by fossil fuels.

His district, reshaped by redistricting, contains nearly 1 million residents who are 55% white, 24% Latino, 12% Asian and 4% Black, according to the 2020 Censusand live in communities such as Calabasas, Hidden Hills and Agoura Hills, far from the coastal areas that originally put him in office.

Lucie Velotzky (R)

(cahighways.org) “Volotzky ran for Congress in 2022, when the wrote during the primary: “No transgender should participate in our women’s sport!”. No explanation, no background. That says everything about an attitude towards transgender (the right answer, by the way, is to eliminate the distinction between men and women’s sports, and instead use strength/weight categories). She’s in favor of gun rights. She states “Let’s bring back business from China.” without providing any reason for those businesses to come back. Does she want to underpay and abuse our labor? Does she want to weaken environmental law? That’s why labor goes to China. So she’s naive.  She states “We have the highest inflation in 40 years. It was caused by printing too much money”. No, it was caused by supply chain issues, combined with unexpectedly high demand. So she doesn’t understand economics either. She’s not the right person for this job.

Revisiting her congressional website in October 2022, she wrote: “who will put America first and stand strong to defeat the radical progressive agenda hijacking our country”. That level of partisanship really doesn’t convince me, but it will play great to the Trumpublican base. I also looked at her endorsements. Our city councilman, John Lee, has endorsed her. This makes me think twice about re-electing Lee at the next election, given the endorsement indicates he agrees with her values. Other than GOP organizations, there are no other real endorsements for this race.

So what about now? This time, she writes: “She will stand against the deceitful Green New Deal, the attacks on fossil fuels, the open border, illegal immigration, human trafficking and drugs, rising crime, defunding of the police, the unconstitutional COVID-19 closures and mandates, the “woke” sexualized school system, a weakened military, the censoring of conservative speech, and foreign companies buying U.S. land.” Back in December,  she used the “America First!” phrasing, a Trumpist dogwhistle.

Her experience? According to LinkedIn: “owner at bedsunlimited”. She’s a MAGA-ite, with no experience. She was wrong for Congress in 2022; and she’s wrong for state level government.
