38th District, 42nd District, 46th District

Member of the Assembly – 38th District – Vote for (1)

WINNER

Assembly Member Steve Bennett (D)

  • Age: 73
    • City of residence: Ventura Occupation: Ventura County supervisor/ CA State Assembly
    • Education: Brown University,  Butler University (MA)
    • Funding: here
    • Endorsements: here (scroll down)
    • Website: stevebennettforassembly.com
  • (Ventura County Reporter) “Bennett told the Ventura County Reporter that he’s “certainly not a Trump candidate. The MAGA approach is to instill fear of all kinds of things by misleading,” Bennett said. “It’s terrible for democracy. We’ve seen it over and over again, this tool used by authoritarian governments that try to erode the basic commitments to democracy that a society has.
    • I can tackle the really challenging problems that are allowed to just kind of fester here in California…The reason they fester is because there are powerful forces that block, you know, good government solutions to those problems,” Bennett said. “It takes many years to be able to build the support and for policies to change that. And so, I’m on my way in terms of doing that, having some impact. And there’s a lot more to do.”
    • Bennett said some of the issues he’s worked on recently that he’s most proud of involve groundwater over-pumping and advocating for farmworkers.
    • “Farmworkers are really important to the economy of California,” Bennett said. “They represent just the latest wave of immigrants to the United States. And like all recent waves of immigrants that come in, they are low income, they’re vulnerable and they’re not politically powerful. And so, I’ve always had an affinity for trying to help them.”
    • We expanded the Ventura County Farmworker Resource Program so that other counties in the state of California could do similar programs. And I’ve just been a strong supporter of trying to make life better for these farmworkers because we’re actually starting to experience a shortage of farmworkers in the agricultural fields and that’s not good for the economy,” Bennett said.”
  • (CAUSE) “Steve Bennett currently serves as Assemblymember for District 38. Steve began his career as an economics teacher and then served on the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, where he worked to stop pollution and promote a healthy environment, reform campaign laws to get money out of politics, and expand resources for farmworkers. As an Assemblymember, he has been a strong voice for immigrant rights, environmental health, and working families.”

Deborah “I-AM-NOT-A-SEX-SLAVE-THAT-WEARS-MASKS!!!” Baber (R)

Oh, please! Don’t send this Marjorie-Taylor-Greene-wanna-be in our state capitol!

Deborah “I-am-NOT-a -sex-slave-that-wears-masks” Baber went viral nationally with her off-the-rails performance: Video: She really said it! (Watch the full 2 min video and imagine this going on in our government in Sacramento – then vote YOUR values)

We wonder if she ever regrets doing this...

The GOP’s adherence to COVID disinformation is easily noted in their significantly higher “excess death rates” after the vaccine was introduced. But what we particularly disliked was their drafting of noncombatants into their dangerous war on public health.

Deborah worked tirelessly during the pandemic to make the lives of retail workers, who have to face hundreds of strangers a day, much more dangerous than her own. (And yeah, private property owners absolutely have the right to prevent people from entering without masks during a health emergency.)

That retail workers who had to go-face-to-face with selfish people “asserting their rights” died in higher percentages than their customers, is absolutely no surprise.

(ScienceDaily) A new study reveals that 68 percent of COVID-19 deaths during the first year of the pandemic were adults in low socioeconomic positions (SEP) employed in labor, service and retail jobs that require on-site attendance and prolonged close contact with others. University of South Florida epidemiologist Jason Salemi’s research confirmed associations between COVID-19 mortality rates and socioeconomic position, gender, ethnicity and race.

Plus, she was upset that lower-income people could access free life-saving COVID vaccines that would protect them from people like her.

For someone who enjoys quoting the Bible, it is ironic that it is really her lack of empathy and compassion for those who have far less freedom than she does that makes her so uniquely unqualified to be a public servant.

But there are two other serious issues that should immediately disqualify Deborah from serving. The first is election denialism and all the nutty chaos that goes with it, like violent insurrections.

Here are screenshots from her feed. Yep. There’s ol’ “My Pillow” Mike Lindell.

Oh, let’s just check in with the organization that helped push this nonsense, the Heritage Foundation. Yes, they are the same group behind the infamous Project 2025. Look at the number on the upper left blue-green block below – 1,561. That’s the count of every voter fraud that this corporate and oligarchic shill could scrape up from across the ENTIRE COUNTRY. And that’s not just for this year. That number is a TOTAL NUMBER OF FRAUD CASES GOING BACK AS FAR AS 1988!

So, let’s do the math.

  • 1,561 total voting frauds divided by ±30 years = 52 cases a year.
  • 52 cases divided by 50 states = 1 case per state per year!

As this is a really pathetic result, the Heritage Foundation has been trying to rustle up some fraud on their own. However, their deceitful efforts were noted.

  • (NYTimes) Heritage Foundation Spreads Deceptive Videos About Noncitizen Voters – The right-wing think tank has been pushing misinformation about voting into social media feeds. The Georgia secretary of state’s office called one video “a stunt.”
  • (Immigrationimpact) Unpacking Myths About Noncitizen Voting — How Heritage Foundation’s Own Data Proves It’s Not a Problem
  • (WaPo) Group that can’t find systemic voter fraud eager to help combat systemic voter fraud

So, what’s the second disqualifier for her?

We cannot trust her to fulfill her oath of office, i.e. to “faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter.”

Here, she construes a simple notice from FEMA that it was testing a system to ensure it would be an “effective means for warning the public about emergencies” into some kind of scary conspiracy.
We do not need important messages strained through her nonsense-filter.

She believes every word Trump says, which is hilarious and sad at the same time...

Deborah “here’s the beauty of Project 2025“ Baber: Video: She loves it! (starting at 29:31) She also called Project 2025 part of a “brilliant 3-part, coherent strategy to take back our republic.

The constant deceit of Trump supporters is predictable, yet exhausting. On Facebook, months after the video, she calls her very own talking points “the Left’s lies.”

  • Deborah “(CA abortion law) allows for the infanticide for up to 30 days after birth” Baber (55:18)
  • Deborah “if we all live by the 10 Commandments, we wouldn’t need government” Baber (starting at 38:14)
  • Deborah “our immune systems are God’s checkmate against man’s medicine” Baber (53:20)

Oh, there’s more, of course. Deborah has problems with both words and boundaries – let us help. You have a GRANDSON in PA. You have a NIECE in San Francisco.

There. Fixed it. Don’t use, abuse and/or out your family for your own political gain again!

(Ventura County Reporter) I have a granddaughter who has cut off her breasts and lives like a man in Pennsylvania. I have a nephew who lives like a woman in San Francisco. I love them all. And Donald Trump is the sort of person who does, too. And Donald Trump is the sort of person who would make allowances for those differences because he’s a compassionate, faithful man.”
(Erasing people is not “compassionate,” Deborah)

We’re sure your grandson and niece appreciate your loving acceptance.
Oh, wait… What’s this crap on your social feed?

Wow! Thanksgivings must be fun at your place! Hey, here’s something you can watch while you’re waiting for the turkey to finish up.

You, a self-professed person of Jewish heritage, should be ashamed of your unrelenting attacks on the trangender minority amongst us, but even more so for evoking Nuremberg, the last stop for captured Nazi criminals.

Berlin’s thriving LGBTQ community of the 1930’s, inspiration for the musical “Cabaret,” was the first target of the Nazi’s, who, in 1933, destroyed the Sex Institute’s vast library of specialized medical knowledge, including transgender surgery techniques, which have never been fully replaced. Apparently authoritarians all think alike, because Trump abused the LGBTQ community too. And now you.

She prioritizes J6 insurrectionists over the lives of law enforcement officers.

When the antifa smears didn’t stick, insurrection-apologists like Deborah switched to focusing on the prisoners’ con game of praying and singing the national anthem. Better they should each write on a chalkboard a thousand times a day “I will never attempt to violently overthrow an election again, even if I thought Trump had invited me to do so.”

We liberals are the first to step up when police commit crimes under the color of law, abusing or even murdering the public they’ve sworn to serve and protect. But that doesn’t mean that it’s OK with us when police are hurt or killed trying to do their job. Little did we imagine that we would be the ones who needed to remind the right-wing wingnuts like Deborah where her tears and prayers should go.

Hey, Deborah! Dead people don’t vote, and they certainly aren’t endorsing you.

Many, many, dead peopleTrump quote that wasn’t addressed to you

She focuses on the issues that matter:

  • Creating good jobs and fighting homelessness

Ted “Spreader-of-Stupid-Urban-Myths” Nordblum (R)

Another older guy, with ZERO experience in governance in any public capacity! Oh, Joy!

So how can we know what this guy is really about? CHECK OUT HIS ENDORSEMENTS! A candidate is not required to post every endorsement they receive. When they do, it indicates that they share values and beliefs! Since Nordblum has not yet served in public office, let’s get a preview of how he’d vote by looking at whose endorsements he’s accepted.

  • TED NORDBLUM
    • Age: 59
    • City of residence: Newberry Park
    • Occupation: Small business owner, actor, and martial artist
    • Education: Rim of the World High School
    • Funding: here
    • Endorsements: here (scroll down)
    • Website: tednordblum.com

This is what he says in the official Ventura County voter guide:

My name is Ted Nordblum, and I’m running for State Assembly in the 42nd District. I am a local small business owner and husband to my wife of seven years, Donna. I am proud to call the Conejo Valley home.

However, despite our rich history of opportunity, we are faced with many challenges. Working families are being taxed out of their homes and businesses, and Californians no longer feel safe in their communities.

You deserve a better California—one that deserves to be called The Golden State.

I am running to represent you, and I am committed to delivering lasting solutions to the issues impacting California’s working families.

As your Assemblyman, I will:

  • Cut your taxes; (whose? rich people, poor people? What gets sacrificed?)
  • defend Proposition 13; (No one is coming for Prop. 13. But forces extended the benefits to those who sell and buy new homes, and to successive generations who inherit homes. It helped make housing scarcer, and disproportionately benefited an older generation at the expense of younger ones.)
  • reduce regulations on small businesses; (the public safety ones? Which ones?)
  • support public safety professionals; (We Californians call them POLICE)
  • hold criminals accountable for their actions; and (We already have laws for this.)
  • support responsible development of water infrastructure. (Jacqui is already doing this.)

It won’t be easy, but I’m confident that together, we will create a better California for all working families. I humbly ask for your vote to be your next State Assemblymember.”

We don’t need politicians who sacrifice kids for power. Jacqui Irwin is what helps make CA “golden.”

This is a grown man who makes mean-spirited attacks against kids over an issue he neither understands nor realizes is that it’s none of his business just for votes from other homophobes. Mr. Nordblum, you seem to have forgotten an important bullet-point in your list above – “I will implement Project 2025’s agenda to erase the identity of gay and transgender children.”

Hey, Ted. Here’s a video for you!
