Project 2025 link: 1. WHITE HOUSE OFFICE
WHO WROTE THIS CHAPTER? Rick Dearborn was of Trump’s former White House Chief of Staff for Legislative, Intergovernmental Affairs and Implementation (he lasted less than a year before resigning), but not before he and chapter contributor Ambassador Andrew Bremberg used the Congressional Review Act to reverse 13 Obama administration bills, erasing rules on the environment, labor, financial protections, internet privacy, abortion, education and gun rights such as:
- a rule requiring coal companies to make sure that waste from mountaintop mining was not polluting local waterways, making people living downstream ill.
- a rule requiring background checks for mentally incapacitated people to buy guns. (about 7500 a year)
- a rule prohibiting internet providers from collecting, sharing or selling consumers’ information without their permission.
- a rule requiring some businesses to keep records of work-related injuries and illnesses for five years instead of six months.
- a rule prevented states from denying funding for women’s health services to facilities that also provided abortions
Thanks, Rick and Andy, for all you did to harm the American public!
Other contributors to this endeavour: Edwin Meese III (Wedtech scandal, Iran-Contra Affair), Donald Devine, and Jonathan Bronitsky (Works for the Steamboat Institute, whose stated mission is to “promote America’s first principles and inspire active involvement in the defense of liberty. According to DeSmog, the organization “has regularly provided a platform for climate change deniers and fossil fuel proponents to spread their messages.”)
Our own page-by-page deep dive
- (Pg. 24-26) List of front-line job qualifications They already know exactly who they are going to hire, so this is a waste of everyone’s time. The Heritage Foundation will have already administers the Trump loyalty oath.
- (Pg. 26) The future White House Counsel is soooo screwed! This poor sod and their staff are charged with not ever letting an “abundance of caution” get in the way (this is why “MAGA” means “Making [Trump] Attorneys Get Attorneys”), making “recommendations for reconsidering or reversing positions of the previous Administration in any significant litigation” and protecting the Prez from Congress, the judiciary and administrators they haven’t fired yet. They must also keep their criminally-inclined boss within the bounds of the law, as he pursues his agenda of golf, revenge and enrichment. This attorney must also ensure that everyone in the Trump White House adheres to all applicable legal and ethical guidelines, including providing training and monitoring to ensure compliance for:
- financial disclosures (Trump concealed millions from foreign government at his hotel),
- received gifts (“Trump failed to disclose more than 100 foreign gifts“)
- potential conflicts of interest (“President Trump’s 3,400 conflicts of interest“)
- and other ethical concerns. (“Probe finds Trump officials repeatedly violated Hatch Act“)
- (Pg. 29) We LOVE that they keep pretending Trump ever read the daily briefing book! Apparently, the US. intelligence community “struggled” to brief President-elect Donald Trump in 2016, achieving “only limited success” in educating him, as Trump preferred a “fact-free” appproach. This will free up the Staff Secretary’s time to retrieve documents from clogged toilets and taping torn ones back together.
- (Pg. 29) Journalists better not get comfortable! “No legal entitlement exists for the provision of permanent space for media on the White House campus, and the next Administration should reexamine the balance between media demands and space constraints on the White House premises.” We see future discrimination in favor of partisan conservative media.
- (Pg. 31) OFFICE OF PRESIDENTIAL PERSONNEL (PPO) is suppose to take the job of filling 1000 appointments that require Senate confirmation – we don’t see Trump, devotee of the confirmation-less “interim”acting” appointment, worrying about this. They also have to fill 3,000 political jobs, which have most probably been filled by the Heritage Foundation already, so they can just go get some coffee for everyone.
- (Pg. 38) They will be watching us! “Policy Councils” will be “enforcing immigration laws, reversing regulatory policies in order to promote energy production, combating the Left’s aggressive attacks on life and religious liberty, and confronting “wokeism” throughout the federal government.” No word on watching right-wing domestic terrorists…
- (Pg. 40) The end of public “real” Medicare – The Domestic Policy Council (DPC) will be working to to “promote economic opportunity and private-sector innovation,” especially in health programs. Private-sector involvement is how the ACO-Reach and Medicare Advantage routinely rook taxpayers for billions of dollars in fraudulent overcharges.
- (Pg. 40) OFFICE OF THE FIRST LADY/FIRST GENTLEMAN “One advantage of the first spouse’s taking on hot-button social issues is that any political backlash will be less severe than it would be for the President.” Blame that Christmas debacle with the blood-red trees on Melania!
